Brian Kelly leaving ND, yanks sitting back during a dizzying FA period and now Yanks tendering Gary Sanchez. What the actual f*** is up with today

The first time a ND coach left the school to coach somewhere else since 1933!

And we are 77 mins from the lockout and Yanks have done dick. f*** you Cashman. f*** you Hal. Very excited for a 4th place finish in 2022 you f***ing *******s.

So, you have the Sox ahead of you guys, because we signed Wacha?

No, because our only lefty in our underachieving lineup is a guy who makes contact 63% of the time. Because our catcher is going to be the ghost of Gary Sanchez past. Because, right now, we are relying on a third basemen to play SS, a 2nd basemen to play 3rd and an chronically injured hulk to play 1b. We have nobody to play CF if you assume Gallo cannot play the position. Right now we are relying on Aaron Hicks to play 130 games, which we all know he cannot. This team just jettisoned off its best swiss army knife in Wade who also made the team way more athletic. We have made zero moves to at least give a reasonable replacement for Kluber. We have the depth to ensure we can handle his loss, but adding a veteran option, maybe someone on the higher end of capability, would be a good idea going up against the Jays now fearsome threesome. The Yanks should be better than the sox, but the sox have a better architect and manager, which apparently equates to a lot

There's still like 4 months of offseason left. You can almost guarantee the roster will different by the time ST starts

It will be, for sure. But with the top tier guys off the market outside of Correa, it almost entirely assures most of our broken team returns AND we use our prospect capital to acquire said improvements, which is TOTALLY BACKWARDS! Unless the players score an incredible victory, I doubt we see a shortening of rookie control beyond maybe 1 year shaved off. Teams that win have great players on rookie control, or have great support players on rookie deals. Even the juggernaut Dodgers of 2020 had many key players on rookie deals. If we cut off our pipeline of young talent to get guys in their final 2 years of control, we will essentially destroy ourselves from inside out. You spend the money now to fill the holes, let your minor league talent develop and replace said expensive players with minor league talent.

I get the Jays and the Rays, but you have continually said the Sox were over-achievers and would come down to earth.

Now, you think we are better, on paper, because you lost Kluber and we lost Erod?

No, I am saying we should be better than the sox as of right now, but with a s*** manager and an architect who literally has his wallet taped shut, we are outgunned on the leadership side. And that meant a lot last year to the sox. Yanks perpetually get less out of their talent. Last year, the sox squeezed every drop out of their team's talent and nearly went to a world series

The manager is part of the team, so you are saying, as of now, the Sox are better.

I just want to get this on paper.

Unfortunately, if a lockout occurs as expected, transactions are shut down.

And this lockout is going to last. Very real chance the season is delayed.

And no, you don’t include GM and manager when you consider talent. Yanks have more talent right now. I just have little assurance that the guy paying the bills will expand his budget to allow for further talent acquisition. And Bloom has proven he turns s*** into diamonds

What’s the allure to Kiner-Falefa? Yes, great glove. Yes, good speed. But the guy is a slap hitter who never walks and never hits for power and is also right handed. WTH is Cashman thinking?

No. The question is - why don’t you appreciate a good player like IKF?

He can field just about any position, including catcher. He has a terrific glove - including hardware to prove it - and a good arm. He has decent speed, but nowhere near elite speed, but he makes up for it y being a savvy base runner. He doesn’t in walk a lot and he rarely hits for power. Do the Yankees really need more walks and more power?

Get IKF and bat him ninth. He’s like Taylor Wade but without the expendability.

I would not mind seeing Bloom pursue IKF at all…

Well, you projected the Yanks to blow away the Sox last year, and you knew about the GM and manager situation.

Now, you pick the Sox, so it looks like you changed the way you view "team".

I think Simmons would be a better fit short term.

Where does Correa land?

Story?

Calling Story to the Astros. For the money they offered Correa earlier.

I think Correa goes to the Carolina Panthers and takes over for Sam Darnold. Not like he could do that much worse…

I'm not seeing any team that will pay Correa near what he wants. The Yanks still look like the most obvious team, but the GM is a bozo.

Seager got $325 mill, what does Correa want?

Some guys will get more than expected and some less.

It was a little surprising Stroman got "only" $71 mill - not that it wasn't a tidy sum for 3 years, plus an opt-out.

Plus Stroman gets tips and a full week off at Christmas...

With Correa, the real dark horse is the Nationals.

They won everything 3 years ago, and still have some big contracts in Corbin and Strasburg. They do have a bunch of solid young, cheap players lead by Juan Soto (who will be leaving this list soon, as he should start making real money), Keibert Ruiz, Victor Robles, Josiah Gray, Tanner Rainey, and Carter Kieboom.

Why not?

I think the Yankees look for a short term option and hope one of Peraza or Volpe pans out. Simmons and IKF are both good options. Taking the the last year of the contract of Elvis Andrus might lessen what it takes to pry Matt Olson out of Oakland. Maybe a reunion with Grigorius, freeing up Philly to pursue Correa?

If the Nats are the "dark horse," who are the favorites?

Throw another RH hitter on the pile. I think Correa is a great player, but I doubt Scrooge McDuck plans to spend that much

You do realize Hal has been spending more than George ever did, right?

Even counting inflation?

They aren’t outspending everyone else anymore.
