Not at all. The metrics say the best hitter should be in the 2 spot, that's all.

As much as people complain about Cora and Bloom being all about advanced metrics...

OPS from our 2 slot

JD is just another of many FA's signed by the SOX to a long-term contract, who most of us want gone before his contract expires.

Most of us?

He's a great hitter. I hope he finishes out his deal.

I'd like him to finish, too, but I'm not sure about afterwards.

Also, if it cam down to JD vs Schwarber for 2022, and we could only keep one, I might choose Kyle.

I wouldn't re-sign him after. His current deal has been fine. If there are any contracts to complain about, his is not one of them.

Maybe I read your posts wrong, Moon, but I could swear you were also hoping he'd opt out. Please be consistent.

Giving credit where credit's due, Bloom did sign Renfroe and Kike, so he should, at least, be thanked for that.

Indeed. Kike, Renfroe and Whitlock were his best winter moves (ML'ers only).

Last year's additions that look good, include Arroyo, Pivetta, Valdez & Plawecki.

I think I said he might opt out.

I'm on the fence but only because of Schwarber. If we lose JD, we'd be much more likely to find a way to get Schwarber back.

JD's contract doesn't officially expire until after the 2022 season.

@SoxNotes

Hunter Renfroe’s 6th-inning home run was estimated at 425 feet. He entered today’s game leading the American League in average HR distance (418).

Renfroe leads the majors with 8 HR in August.

Duran pinch hits and promptly watches a called third strike that was middle/middle.

Kiké follows that with a 4 pitch walk.

Sborz messed with him and threw a curveball.

Is anyone seeing evidence on Duran that he could be a strating CF'er in 2022 and cured some of his pitch recognition issues . Seems to be a consistent problem that Chavis showed, Dalbec does and Duran does. Of course, so does JDM

Eovaldi at 94 pitches through 7. Doubt he comes back out.

@alexspeier

No one up in the Red Sox bullpen. Looks like Eovaldi will have the 8th.

Still a curveball that is middle middle.

Sox pinch hitting for Dalbec and pinch running for Schwarber likely means they are going to go:

Kiké CF

Verdugo LF

Arroyo 2B

Shaw 1B

A much better fielding unit.

Another bases loaded and no run production, including JDM and Bogey. been a recurring story over the past month.
