For the crime of the SOX overachieving for the first 100 games, they will be sentenced to underachieving for the last 62 games.

This sounds right.

Do I think a better infield than Devers, Bogaerts, Shaw, Arroyo, et al, would have kept the score down below 3 runs? Yep. But Shaw was brought in to play defense, Arroyo is our best choice to play 2b, and Devers and Bogaerts are our best hitters.

Yes, Shaw came in as a defensive replacement for an error prone Dalbec but couldn't make a play many first basemen would. Follow that with a potential inning ending groundball to Bogaerts. A flip to Arroyo where he should at least gotten one but dropped it. Barnes was not good giving up those hits but he also got no support.

This is the Texas Rangers we are playing right....winners of 15 road games this year, one of them the last game here and we are on track to lose another if we don't do something the bottom of this inning.

Barnes can't close any longer. Not sure it really matters.

When the RS announcers ask: "Would other first basemen have caught that?" "Average ones would have." -- then this is NOT the solution at 1b.

Rangers even at 43-80 still have a mathematical chance at finishing above .500 . Sox have the same chance but not taking bets on it

matinez, bogaerts and Devers up with a man on second, If we can't score here it's on the meat of our lineup who haven't shown up today so far.

I'll be honest and say I get a little weary about the "pitcher protection society" who argue that every pitcher, no matter how good or bad, is not required to defend his position because his errors don't count against his ERA, and and that he is entitled to the very best defense available--one that not only makes excellent plays but also never makes an error.

Plus, in the case of Barnes, he is entitled to his own catcher because, Plawecki, who had no problem catching Eovaldi and then Ottavino for 8 innings, just wasn't good enough for our ace closer with the recent pay raise.

Who is the radio announcer who is effectively trashing the RS? (I haven't been listening to them enough to know. Usually they are very circumspect about RS mis-plays and screw-ups.)

REnfroe needs to win this here I have no confidence in what is left of the order past Renfroe and clearly the Rangers scramble better than we do
