Hernandez back in the batting order. Not sure I like Duran batting 2nd....in fact I am sure I don't like it. Not sure I like Rafi batting in a spot that will encourage his worst tendencies either. But I am better with that than Duran at 2 in the order.

Schoop would sure look good in a Sox uni. But never fear. We have Schwarber who I guess looks good riding a stationary bike????

It will be a walk in the park.

Yeah, Central Park, NYC, after dark carrying a money bag while wearing a Red Sox uni shirt . Sorry , couldn't resist the lay up opportunity. Thanks for the assist

I was thinking of Schoop when he cracked that double last night. On a one year contract ($4.5MM) , would have prorated out about $1.5 for final 55 games. Schwarber may be great coming in fresh, but he may also reinjure the hammy on Day 1 or be totally out of synch against new pitchers . The real point is that they needed help against the Rays, not in 10 days (maybe)

A glow-in-the-dark money bag.

So, what you're saying is that Schwarber is going nowhere fast?

A walk in Central Park even w/o a money bag is dangerous. But I agree, not all walks in the park are the same.

So can ERod go 5?

I was just reading some stuff about Bill Lee, the old Sox left hander. A few years ago, he pitched a 9 inning complete game for an independent league team in California. He was almost 66 years old at the time.

He is a free swinger that does not have great plate discipline as if we don't already have enough of those. At least Schwarber will get one of Cordero, Duran, Dalbac, Gonzalez out of the batting order.

His book "Have Glove Will Travel" is a good read. He played several years for the Moncton (New Brunswick) Mets. Moncton is about a two hour drive from my house.

Gallo with an error that led to an unearned run.

Yanks down 2-0.

What can't Ben, err, I mean DD, errr...I mean Bloom get guys like him?

And the two guys in the wrong spots in the order, Duran and Rafi, prove the point.

Got it. Bad idea to have your best hitter at bat with 2 men on base. What was Cora thinking?

The problem isn't the order in which they bat, it's what they do when they are at bat. Last night, down 3-2 in the top of the 7th, Duran leads off with a single and later steals 2d. Meanwhile, the heart of this year's lineup, Devers, Bogaerts, and JDM, all strike out.

And you want to rearrange the deck chairs on the titanic.

Duran is too young and inexperiences to bat 2nd where your best hitter should be and batting Rafi 4th will just encourage him to swing harder, swing bigger and roll over......Oh look, Duran with the K and Rafi with the ground ball to short for a DP.

Getting the leadoff hitter on and getting NOTHING for it is not a successful half inning for the team at the plate.

Innings or minutes?

Lee would have driven several posters here crazy since he always gave up a ton of hits.

OTOH, with his stuff, he wouldn’t have been given the time of day by scouts after finishing college ball.

Eck declares Cabrera a DP waiting to happen. About 5th on the list of things Cabrera is waiting to happen.

Problem is ERod doesn’t really throw a sinker.

Erod still loves his fastball fully as much as opposing hitters love it.

Of course, ERod then gets two huge K's largely with his fastball, primarily above the zone, which is the best place for it.
