Talk about assumptions.

Point taken. I am no mind reader and not good at assumptions. On the other hand, you think you can readily read my mind and other poster’s minds. And you call me arrogant. Moon the Mindreader.

Sorry for taking your words at face value.

I'll try not to do that again.

i haven’t taken anything you said seriously since you joined the forum, and I am not about to start now.

I know.

You just love hearing yourself talk.

(ooops, I made an assumption, there.)

I don't want to make any assumptions, but we both seem to suffer from lastwordism.

I’d save your energy. Some people just aren’t worth arguing with. Especially ones that go 0-60 with the insults unsolicited.

Personally I think it’s more fun to argue with someone you either like and/or agree with other stuff on. Makes for a more enjoyable and productive conversation. I used to engage in more heated debates in the past but have learned it’s a waste of time. Especially people who are quick to insult. An insult in place of an argument is really just a lazy argument.

OPS since being traded.

Kyle Schwarber 1.052

Anthony Rizzo .784

Joey Gallo .634

Nelson Cruz .694

The Sox gave up significantly less than what those other guys commanded.

True, but the buzz is a little dampened when the Sox have stunk since the deadline and the Rays and Yankees have been rolling.

Looks at the top 5 posters list... Yup, that explains it.

Absolutely, but for the most part of the Sox skid it had been the paltry offense that has hurt us, and that has been from guys already in the lineup who had been productive most of the year.

Honestly, if we could subtract relief pitching momentarily from the equation bloom gets an A for the deadline deals.

It's been a combination of bad offense, bad defense and bad relieving. Those are the three amigos right now.

Of course you don’t think that you just solicited being called a jerk. LOL’

But it's all about pitching: better relievers preserving more wins, or a better starter preserving existing relievers' arms for preserving more wins...

Scherzer has gone 4-0 with a 1.29 ERA for the Dodgers, who are now finally back in first place. He may not have made them any better, as he replaced another (banned) Cy Young, but he assures LA of being an October favorite. In Boston, Scherzer would have assured the Red Sox of a Wild Card. But he couldn't also be the closer, or shore up the infield D, or drive in runners from third with less than two outs... so I don't think many of us would have agree to trade Casas and Mayer for Scherzer and Trea Turner.

quick to sling mud, calling moon a douche-bag unsolicited and now I'm a jerk? Oh no..I bet you were the guy who tried stealing kids lunch menu and shoved them in lockers back in highschool. Stop acting like a bully.

If Anyone is a D-Bag my money is on the guy who quotes himself and self proclaims himself the king of an internet chat forum. Loser. Don't talk to me.

Oh without a doubt the pitching has caught up the last 2-3 weeks but prior to that the skid had been almost all on the offense.

8/5 - Perez pulled after 1.1 innings, Robles and Davis give up 4

8/6 - Eovaldi gives up 7 in 4.2 to Jays, Robles and Davis give up 3

Possibly including Washington GM Mike Rizzo, since he acquired an MLB-ready SP and an MLB-ready catcher, both of whom are already on the Nats’ roster. Does a package of an AA 1b and a SS just drafted out of high school really compare?

That sounds like a good idea to me.

They also didn't need the top of the line guys. They just needed upgrades to what they already had. Nobody should have been expecting an ace or a top of the order bat.

Not now, but it depends on player projections and where the acquiring club stands in their rebuild window or longterm quest to sustain contention. Plus, I was only dropping the names of the Red Sox' two best prospects for a comparative scenario...
