Either way, there's a short leash involved. If he's a 4 inning guy, fine. Until he can get to 6 innings from time to time, he's not really a starter.

My see saw is teetering towards "no hope for 2021." It may not matter who is in the rotation if Xander is hurt, Schwarber is delayed and the bullpen is gassed. This team was top heavy. If the lineup isn't producing, they are toast.

For the record, Houck is very similar stuff and delivery-wise to Chris Sale, and there's a reason the Chisox brought him along the way they did. Houck needs a lot more reps at the ML level before he can get his stuff under enough control to pitch three times through an order.

Has anyone really looked at how putrid our offense has been since July 1..... ???? Devers and Xander, our sparkplugs from which this team fuels off of... 28 RBI's since 7/1, Xander alone has only 8 of those, Devers on the other hand has really hit a slump starting in Aug with 1 double, 0 HR, and 0 RBI's.... this team doesn't stand a snowballs chance in he!! with those two not showing up!

 

As I have said, I think the lack of offense has been a bigger issue than our pitching, not that our pitching has been great (although our starters have been pretty good for the past week or so.) It's tough to win games when you're only scoring 1, 2, or 3 runs.
