He keeps starting threads that say the same thing. It's incredibly annoying.

However, we don't have any mods here so what can you do.

Yup . I'm not volunteering . The old BDC went a long time without mods , and it got a lot crazier than this. Can't let these things bother you.

Ghost was banned before, BTW.

Should also ban FreddieLynn who was here in the off-season insulting people about politics. He had been banned previously too. And where has he been since we have been playing baseball. He doesn’t post or contribute. He was just an obnoxious agitator who tore this place apart. Mods dropped the ball on him. Ghost is annoying but doesn’t attack anyone other than FO and players, who are the subject of the Forum, not members of the forum. That being said, I don’t care if he comes or goes. But Freddie Boy should be gone.

Well, the grass is always greener down on the farm..

Despite what Cora says, I think Casas is brought up for a cameo role in Sept and then invited to ST in 2022. If he does well, he may be on the Sox in a meaningful role after the AS break in 2022 at the earliest

Well, I'm not really sure who you can throw in there, they only have a few guys on their bench and 1/2 of them are catchers. In low A, I don't think they care as much about stat lines as much as they do about getting the guys they deem to have a higher potential of future impact playing time to develop. Tyler McDonough who is a recent draftee will start getting some playing time, and the rest of the lineup is either studs or past high picks. Lugo, Jordan, Yorke, Decker, and Jimenez are names that seem to fit that mold.

The catchers in Salem do not have next level talent or potential to move to Greeneville. Erro had a few hits last night to raise his avg to around .220 and Marrero weighs more than his avg, kid swings for the fences on every pitch!

Of course he’ll get a ST invite.

What’s wrong with the Cape and the Vineyard? That’s where true M*******s go.

It is sometimes surprising how many responses there are to the Ghost's over the top , obviously intentionally outrageous posts. But unless he gets personal or political , I don't see a reason to ban him. It's all part of the fun and it does give some folks a chance to show how super serious and knowledgeable they are by body slamming him . Or , he can simply be ignored. Sometimes we let too many things bother us.

Well said. This isn't real life, it's just baseball. And, SG isn't completely wrong; right now the SOX do suck.

And some of his stuff is actually funny.

I honestly don’t get the ire. He complains about a lot of things (and right now there are plenty of reasons to complain) but so what?

Is the Internet, folks. As in World Wide Web. There are bound to be people on it who say things you don’t like…

Agreed.

Heck you and I say things all the time the other one doesn’t like. But we don’t launch campaigns to ban each other…

There’s about a zero chance Casas gets a cup of coffee at the end of the year. They’re not going to waste the 40 msn spot for someone who is still developing.

Lol, if there’s one caveat to my favorite team skidding hard it’s watching the softy fans implode.

Edit: I’m about 1-2 weeks out from joining the rest of you.

And they’re not gonna start his service time clock either. They’ll wait til they can get an extra year

The big problem with Casas is he is not doing much in AA to make me (and probably a lot of others) think he is any sort of immediate upgrade over Dalbec. And despite the common logic of "he can't be any worse", he can. While Dalbec has set the bar pretty low, turns out there are still some .600 OPS points of room to snake under...

September call ups don't count towards service time...

You need to add the phrase "until they have to" at the end to make it actually true. The Sox have several players still developing on the 40 man roster, including Groome, Downs, Rosario, Potts, Mata, etc...

The main thing I keep thinking is At least Casas is an actual first baseman. I know both he and Dalbec are converted third basemen and both have been first sackers all season, but Casas really played well there all through the Olympic games I watched on TV.

There's no question Casas is more of a sure thing there than either a minor leaguer or major leaguer the Sox think can just shift over and thrive at the position -- in the middle of a pennant race -- like Cordero, Arroyo or Schwarber.

I'm not so sure being an actual first baseman is a hiuge advantage. Look around MLB at who plays forst base. At least half of them came up playing other positions and moved to 1B. At the MLB level for a lot of teams, 1B is where you put the "can hit/can't field" player...

If the Sox promote any minor leaguer, Connor Seabold is the bigger need right now. Not sure if his 20 innings of rehab is viewed as enough just yet...

I can't disagree -- except in the middle of a pennant race!

Red Sox get an exemption from that qualifier because they now have virtually nothing to lose.

Wander Franco started playing 3B for the Rays this year during a pennant race after never playing the position before this season and only playing it 7 times in the minors.

I bet if I wanted to dedicate the time, I could find a slew of players who moved to 1B during the season as a result of a deadline trade...

Versatility and flexibility seems to be a growing trend in MLB these days. Schwarber seems almost surely planned for first base and some outfield play.

I don't doubt it, but my point has always been (well, after the dreadline) that Bloom and the Sox didn't have to mess around experimenting, when there were legitimate first basemen available, like Rizzo, Cron, Schoop, and maybe Santana.
