Here's a good deadline trade proposal: O'Brien , Santana , Andriese , cash and a sideline reporter to be named later for Don Orsillo. But would the Padres go for it ?

Ha. I'm in. Run in through the BTV site, see what they have to say. ;)

Man Pete Alonso can mash baseballs. He won that Derby easily.

I didn’t see it but I heard he was crushing it no problem

Lance Lynn agrees to extension for $38M/2.

How does this affect the ERod market?

Not much in common, but it looks like prices are not going down.

Carlos Rodon will likely get the biggest free agent contract for SP. Somewhere in the 200 million range? Rodon is having a big year and has youth on his side, he is only 28 and that is young compared to many other free agent starters.

E-Rod is relatively young too. If he has a big second half, he could elevate his price in free agency. It'll be interesting to see what the Red Sox do with him. While I want E-Rod to return, I don't want the Red Sox to overpay for a guy who is ultimately a middle-of-the-rotation starter (at his best). I don't see E-Rod as a top of the rotation pitcher but maybe someone would disagree with that assessment.

No one will give Rodon anywhere near $200 million. The guy is a walking Injured List. He has 230 IP in the previous 4 years combined. If you want to argue his current performance will lead to a massive overpayment, that’s one thing. But his health issues will hold him back.

Eovaldi was under 30 when he reached free agency and a World Series hero to boot and he didn’t come anywhere near $200 mill. Or even $100mill…

I think Tatís just blew his arm in a dumb play trying to steal 3rd.

This could change the whole scenario for Los Padres.

Hand is not a solution for the Jays at Pen.
He is in a very bad stretch. He's never impressed me much even though he has put up some good stats in the past. He always seems to be struggling in his outings.

Yeah. I had him in my fantasy team. He made me lose a couple of matchups so I dropped him.

We need to sweep Detroit and built some confidence and momentum.

That would help a lot while gaining time to see all our engines working together— Sale, Schwarber, Arroyo.

Rays, Jays and Yanks all lose.

Gallo & Rizzo go 1-5 combined. Heaney lets up 4 ER in 4 IP. The glitz is wearing off.

Hand let up 3 ER, last night in a 2-2 game.

Why didn't we get guys like them?

(sarcasm alert)

2 shiny objects and 1 dull one.

Rizzo was a 792 hitter in Chicago this year. Gallo? 869 in Texas.

Why don’t you like them?

Watching the Cubs game. Whata great atmosphere in that ball park man. Just figured out Sox will play there next year. I’ll be there if I’m still alive lol.

Wrigley is in baseball bucket list.

Another year, and another Mets collapse?

The Phillies are now in first place. Our old friend Dave Dombrowski made a deal at the deadline to strengthen the Phillies and it is working out so far (he gave up a quality prospect, though).

The Mets acquired J.Baez who is now hurt? to make matters worse, Baez is a rental and the Mets traded away Crow-Armstrong to acquire him. Crow-Armstrong is a former first round pick, an excellent defensive CF, and a really good prospect.

The Lindor contract was stupid too. If Lindor went on the free agent market, I can't envision someone offering him 340 million. He has been a 2 WAR player this year and has a 94 OPS+. What a train wreck of an organization.

The Mets are unlikable with Lindor. Since he is being paid a fortune, he acts like he is joe-leader of the Mets, taking on that captain D.Jeter role. But Lindor has never won a championship and he isn't hitting.

DD knows how to win Divisions.

Phils leading the N L East , but maybe D.D. sold off all the crops in Pa. Left them decimated . And how about the much maligned old man LaRussa in Chicago?

As bad as things look for the Red Sox at the moment, I am so glad that Dombrowski is no longer our GM.

I do have to admit that I was 100% wrong about La Russa being able to lead the White Sox. I thought he was a terrible choice, but the White Sox are rolling.

ChiSox are winning in spite of their manager.

It's fairly easy to make excuses and allowances for someone we like. Much harder to give credit to someone we don't like.

The Mets should hire Theo Epstein -- they need someone like that to turn around the franchise and excite an unhappy fan base. S.Cohen has the money to entice Theo but does Theo even want to be a GM again? Something tells me he is grooming himself to be the future Commissioner of MLB.

Still, if I'm S.Cohen, and have money to burn, I'm calling Theo in the offseason and seeing if he will sign on.

The Mets are in a tough situation. They probably need a complete rebuild, but it is hard to do that when they have a pitcher like Degrom and just signed dipshit Lindor to that huge contract. It would be interesting to see what Theo would do with the Mets--would he tear them down or not?

Yeah, who wants a GM that almost always wins his Division.
