I was just talking specifically about this season

What the Rays lack in star power, they make up for by consistently playing good , solid , fundamental , winning baseball. ( The Jays are the exact opposite) A lot of credit should go to Kevin Cash , arguably the best manager in the game. He seems to get the absolute best out of what he has to work with.

True, and they do all the thing that don’t show up in flashy stats very well.

Blue Jays are overrated. They don't have much for pitching. I see them as 500 team at best this year.

The Jays would win the AL Central and maybe another division or two. I think they finish over 500, but if the end up near 500 it’s because they are in the ALE.

I get that, but they do the same thing almost every year, so I can’t see it being lucky.

We shall see if their hot shot rookie is any good. I just realized something about the Jays that likely puts them in jeopardy for winning anything. They are road warriors this year. No Toronto and their home games are split between Dunedin and Buffalo. At least give them a single home stadium. With a young team and the obstacles now in their way, my bet is they underperform their expectation.

So... one start of, say, 5 innings should do it?

How did Joe Panik not make our names thread for players you wouldn’t want to sit next to at a party?

I'm sure there are many grievous omissions in that thread. That's one though.

I take it Dickerson was included to dump cash. The Blue Jays need more offense like the Red Sox need more utility infielders…

Probably. They needed Cimber for sure.

The top 5 AL teams are starting to pull away from the rest.

You got your three division leaders: BOS, HOU & CWS, and your 2 WC leaders TBR & OAK.

The next WC teams are all 3.5 or more games behind Oakland:

3.5 TOR & SEA

4.5 LAA & NYY

5.0 CLE

(All others are more than 9 games out)

Deadline sellers? DET, MN, KC, TX, BAL

In the NL, it's 5 and the rest, as well:

The NLW has 3 of the best 4 records in the NL, and look certain to get both WCs. MIL & NYM have good leads in their divisions.

Cincy is 5.5 behing the last WC team, right now, the SDP.

Philly is 7.5.

STL, ATL, WSH & Cubs are all 8 back and may be sellers at the deadline- PHI, too.

These teams are 12 or more games behind the WC:

MIA, COL, PIT, AZ (They should all be sellers.)

Note: due to the rather poor record by the NLE leader, the Mets, these teams could still be in the race for the division crown at the deadline:

PHI -4.0

ATL -4.5

WSH -4.5

The 3 weeks after the AS break is going to determine who are the sellers. Right now, it looks like there are a clear 9 sellers with another 6 to 9 possible additions in the next 3 weeks.

Also, we need Don Orsillo back.

I enjoyed watching the game last Saturday with him in the broadcast booth. Made me feel like a kid again.

Here's a good deadline trade proposal: O'Brien , Santana , Andriese , cash and a sideline reporter to be named later for Don Orsillo. But would the Padres go for it ?

Orsillo did something to piss off John Henry. Not sure what it was, but he ain't coming back.

Too bad.

I'm not happy with our announcers, now.

I enjoyed it as well. Can't say it made me feel like a kid again, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
