Funny. Most people here laughed at me when I said this team was done.

As I called it early this season. This team of yours ain’t going anywhere. Trying to fix this wreck train will be a waste of time.

You have to rebuild ASAP.

No Yankee fan on here is saying to blow the team up. I think all of us are united in wanting the management and corporate team blown up. The Yanks don’t need a full scale tear down, they need to have some impact left handed additions to the offense and starting rotation depth behind Gerrit Cole. I wouldn’t mind if they sold off some pieces that are redundant (Sanchez, Frazier) but the core of Urshela, DJ, Judge and Stanton aren’t going anywhere.

Lol come on man!

You have said here and there, that they have to blow this up.

In my very humble opinion, trying to fix this with a couple of additions will be a waste of time.

As I've posted before, as much as I'd like to count the Yankees out, I just can't. There is too much of the season left and things can change quickly in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to the series right out of the All Star break.

Nestor the Molester is really stepping up for the Yankees.

I may have to pick him up on my fantasy team.

Absolutely. My policy has always been to count the Yankees out the day they're mathematically eliminated.

Cole is an elite starter without sticky stuff. Today’s biggest annoyance is that we couldn’t hit the Astros pen after Greinke left. Cole can’t throw every day. We have to score more.

Not sure if this is a blip or real, but Nestor was drafted as a low velocity guy who barely every reached 90. He had to get by with location and multiple pitches, but the last game I saw, he was topping out at 95. Reminds me of when the Yanks had Jose Quintana in their minor leagues and let him walk for nothing. A lefty with great accuracy, a deceptive motion and tons of pitches finally unlocks more velocity. You gotta keep this kid and see him through

Looks like Cole found a new and undetectable sticky substance.

(Will he share it with Chapman?)

Ha. I thought the same thing.

Great outing by Cole. It's interesting that Boone chose to stay with Cole and his season high 129 pitches rather than go with someone in the pen.

The last guy the Yankees pushed the envelope with was Corey Kluber.

Cole is more durable and is heading into the ASB.

I am sure that the upcoming ASB factored into Boone's decision.

I still find it interesting that there was no one in the pen that Boone had enough confidence in to close out that game, and preferred to instead put Cole at some risk. That's more of a sprint type decision rather than a marathon decision. Granted, the Yankees are feeling a sense of urgency.

Britton to IL, Loaisiga went on Covid IL, and Green was unavailable. O’Day just went back on the IL too. Cessa was extended from the German root canal game. They literally had Albert Abreu, Brooks Kriske and Chapman.

Boone knows he's coaching for his job at this point. I'm sure we'll see plenty of other moves that seem desperate, especially when they play Boston.

He better have the team playing desperate. 8 out of 10 games out of the break are vs Boston. We need to win at least 6 of those to start making headway

The Yanks apparently do not trust Chapman at all. The blown saves , especially the multiple run variety , always hurt the most. This was a bad one .

I turned the game on just as the bottom of the ninth began. Perfect timing, LOL. I can't remember a season in which the Yankees had such crushing late inning losses. Of course, when you have M.Rivera for as long as the Yankees did, late inning losses were pretty rare.

Funny they ripped off his shirt, just to prove he wasn't cheating.

The Astros scored 2 runs in first 26 innings of the series, and 6 runs in the 27th. That's baseball, baby! Crazy freakin' game.

Who knew that cheating accusations could be so much fun, huh?

One odd thing I've noticed is that whenever Aaron Judge does something to troll an opponent, it backfires.

LOL. I wonder how long it will be until our newest "Worst Loss of the Year".

It's a weekly thing, isn't it?

It's like here in Texas, we've had a 500 year flood, a 200 year flood and two 100 year floods in the last 3 years.

Those terms start to lose meaning.

I was thinking the same thing. Judge should know better by now.

Buster Olney

MLB teams are 493-2 (.996) when leading by 4+ runs entering the 9th inning this season. The Yankees are responsible for both losses (also June 30 vs Angels)

AAAA masher Trey Amburgey is getting called up for this series. Hopefully he can match our last outstanding prospect, Chris Gittens, who posted a modest .095/.200./.238 slash line.
