Sometimes adding reinforcements reinvigorates the club. Rizzo has been dynamite. The defense has improved. While we haven’t hit tremendously, we’ve improved in the clutch. This Holmes kid has been pretty good as well. We’ve got 3 home vs the O’s, 4 at home vs the pretender M’s and 3 at KC. We’ve played down to our competition all year. If we can go on a run and take 7 or 8 of 10, we will position ourselves nicely heading into a CWS series

The Yanks suck. Even you said so.

They did suck. Remains to be seen if they will continue to.

It's a long freakin' season. Some teams get written off and then rise from the dead. Other teams soar like eagles and then get shot down.

There’s also expectations vs reality. When every pundit says your team should be the cream of the AL and your team is .500 around the ASB, that’s sucking.

And the Yankees seemed like the most snake-bitten team of all time for a while there.

For another animal metaphor, Cashman was like a cornered rat before the deadline, and he came out biting with Gallo and Rizzo.

I agree that adding reinforcements can spark a team, and that seems to be the case with the Yankees. Though no team should be taken lightly, you all have a nice stretch coming up where you should be able to make a run.

It's looking more and more like my prediction of the Red Sox eliminating the Yankees in the playoffs (with Whitlock and Ottavino shutting you guys down) will come true.

Ottavino was a Yankee for two seasons. He was absolutely nails the first half of his seasons, but he tires and becomes a Juggs machine at the end. Whitlock is a total whiff from Cashman. That kid got stronger from TJS

If the Yanks and Sox do face in the playoffs then I pray that they bring in Ottavino in a big situation. For us he imploded in just about every playoff appearance and eventually was unusable.

A couple foolish trades and a hot streak is all it took?

Pretty hard to argue with the early returns on Rizzo. Yes, I know it's only 3 games. But he seems like a perfect fit there. I think he's going to put up good numbers.

Rizzo is a glitzy mirage.

Lou Merloni was saying it provides a shot in the arm, some pep in the step when the FO adds key players at the deadline. Conversely, it is demoralizing to have a good team that isn’t added to because the Fo essentially says they don’t believe in them. He was pretty upset at the returns for the Sox. Two s***** relievers and a LFer who is hurt

What Lou says is always the truth. You win.

A glitzy Rizzo was what we should have gone after.

I have seen Rizzo play a lot. He is a good , quality player. Nothing glitzy about him at all.

And as stat nerds will tell you, he has been worth a solid 3.5-4.5 WAR a season over his career. His defensive metrics are not very good, but his offensive metrics are excellent.

Have to check it twice but I think Heaney is a HR prone pitcher and in the Bronx he will be destroyed.

So Heaney gives up 4 HR in 4 IP, Joely gives up 2 more and we are getting no hit. That’s how you get the home crowd buzzing. FML Edited by jacksonianmarch

They back to sucking, again?

Baseball can drive you crazy. Yankee fans entered the Stadium tonight in high spirits. Rejuvenated. Then they watched their team get shut down by a guy who was 2-12 , with a 6.19 ERA. The fans left dejected. Again. That's baseball , Susyn.

… plus it was a no-no after 6 I think.

Just when they thought it couldn't get any worse, Gerrit Cole has tested positive for Covid.

Geez, really?
