What’s the reason for Porcello?

moon doesn't like his conventional numbers for the last two seasons. Apparently he's got lots of company.

@ChrisCotillo

One free-agent reliever the Red Sox are showing interest in, per source: Héctor Rondón. 33-year-old opted out of minor-league deal with Phillies last week.

It's not just conventional numbers...

2019-2020

4.40 FIP (4.02 before 2019-2020)

4.96 xFIP (3.98 prior)

27.5% LD% (22.5% prior)

120 ERA- (100 prior)

Also, I'd love for Porcello to be on our roster, if it didn't put us over the limit or leave us with no buffer zone.

To me, he can be a solid (if underwhelming) fixture in the rotation that is currently filled with question marks regarding health.

Yes, it seems simple enough.

And the fact that he's still sitting at home means that we are the dumbasses.

It seems that Bloom/Henry have little desire to cross the luxury tax limit this season, even if they might be able to get under it later...

Well, there are other owners out there well under the cap that probably have a need for Porcello.

And they have no such excuse, except that they are showing how to run a team really cheaply...

Matt Barnes was ruled to have a non-infectious positive for COVID-19 and is back in camp, and so are all #RedSox players who were considered close contacts.

Here's a story on the memo MLB and the MLBPA sent to clubs today about Covid protocols.

Amongst other things, players will be able to play video games together in the clubhouse again if 85% of Tier 1 gets vaccinated.

Clubhouse going wild right now.

David Price just opted in... the clubhouse.

Cora confirms Matt Barnes has been cleared by the COVID-19 Joint Committee, and Sox expect to be at full strength for the start of the season.

Hell yeah dude.

I would love to have Porcello on our team.

I'm wondering what kind of offers Porcello has received and what kind of money he is looking for. I am very surprised that he remains unsigned.

I am trying to figure out what the heck "non-infectious positive COVID" is. I understand that maybe he received a false positive. Then why not just say false positive? I am surprised that he was allowed to return so quickly.

He had antibodies of COVID but not active COVID.

Doesn't that happen, if you had a vaccine?

I don’t think so. It’s not a dead virus vaccine like the flu. At least I don’t think it is...

I got an antibodies test last week, to see if my vaccine is working, and they nurse was not aware I had been vaccinated.

She told me I had tested positive for antibodies. I said, "Is that good?" And she said it meant I had "had the virus at some point."

When I told her I had both vaccines, she said, "Oh, I didn't know that. It means the vaccine worked."

He probably had a mild case and developed antibodies.

Are you deliberately wasting people's time? I don't understand why you'd do this.

Barnes doesn't really have an explanation as to how he was cleared. Says he has taken like 8 tests in the last few days and they've all been negative. One positive from last week (Wed or Thurs).

The mystery thickens. How prevalent is a false positive?
