Maybe call it 'responsibility'.

Calling it the blame pie goes back to Boston sports talk radio of the 80's with Eddie Andelman.

I get what you are saying and see what you are trying to get at.

Hendriks over Osuna?

And I think you overlook the potential biggest bargain in Keone Kela.

Also, I actually expect there to be a Workman reunion...

Yes to Hendriks; no to Osuna baggage.

I'd take Kela -- he actually just said he'd love to play for Cora.

I say go for the All-Baggage team and sign Osuna, Kela, Yasiel Puig, Marwin Gonzalez, Justin Turner, Ryan Braun, Mike Fiers, Matt Harvey, and Brad Peacock.

All potential bargains and none of them will be unpleasant surprises. And hey, if you endorse Cora, you already endorsed baggage ;)

Cora is Samsonite. Those guys are are hefty trash bags.

Some are even worse: grocery store plastic bags that idiots throw in the ocean and seals think they're jellyfish.

Is that Bauer driving the loud garbage truck, banging gears and scraping driveways, waking us up early in the morning?

Yes, Hefty was too good a brand to label them.

I knew turtles had this problem but was unaware seals ingested the bags too.

An odd defense, considering nearly half the guys on that list (Gonzalez, Peacock, Fiers) have the exact same baggage as Cora...

Not quite -- the players all got amnesty as long as they gave Manfred his scapegoats.

I'm Glad you noticed.

There's not many other well-known trash bag brands.

Only a simple human would say something like that.

Yeah that doesn't mean anything except that Manfred was too big of a wimp to tackle the issue properly...

So my guess is nothing happens until after teams tender/non-tender contrats by December 2nd, when we see the real free agent pool.

The sox have pre-emptively released a lot of their players who would have been non-tendered. The only two candidates left that I can see are Austin Brice, Ryan Weber and Kevin Plawecki, and I would only expect maybe Brice to actually be non-tendered. But as he is only projected to get $700-900K, he might well not be.

Now other teams might fill the free agent pool. If I had to guess as toi who will become free agents on December 2nd, do any of these names intrigue anyone?

Matt Andriese

Cam Bedrosian

Almedys Diaz

Travis Shaw

Johan Camargo

Orlando Arcia

Alberto Almora

Ryan Tepera

Junior Guerra

Tyler Anderson

Darin Ruf

Donovan Solano

Delino DeShields Jr.

Tyler Naquin

Jose Urena

Richard Bleier

Guillermo Heredia

Chasen Shreve

Tommy Pham

Seranthony Dominguez

Adam Morgan

Steve Brault

Adam Frazier

Chad Kuhl

Danny Santana

Nick Tropeano

Hunter Renfroe

Michael Lorenzen

Maikel Franco

Michael Fulmer

Matt Wisler

Adam Engel

Nomar Mazara

Carlos Rodon

Gary Sanchez

I don't suspect them all to be, but I suspect a significant amount of the players who are non-tendered are found on this list. I am gambling with a few surprises (Pham, Frazier, Sanchez) as well...

He didn't want the fight with the union because the entire scandal would have been an open book to the public. Easier to try and sweep it under the rug.

I can't see Sanchez getting non-tendered. It could happen, but I doubt it.

The BABIP gods killed Pham this year. I'd grab him in a second.

I agree on both points.

I do think we may see some surprises, but many of these "bubble" players will be traded rather than non-tendered.

Depending on how he is recovering from being stabbed.

He's obviously a good player, but my logic was his frequent health issues prevent him from being worth $8mill to San Diego. I was very close to applying similar logic to Jameson Taillon. But as he is a pitcher with potential ace ability, he is very tradable at his projected price...

I can't see Sanchez being tendered a contract. He's almost completely untradable, and he has no position with the Yankees...

If he was any good, defensively, somebody would snatch him up, in hopes his bat comes back, but I doubt anyone wants him at that cost.

Exactly. Non-tender and someone signs him for less...

If the Sox were able to take a flier on Sanchez at what he made in 2020, I think they should do it. He still has high upside. If they moved him off C, maybe his bat comes back?
