I believe he prefers (Austin) Hedges...

I know that if harmony were here he'd say that going Shed Long this offseason may be a good value after his .221 BABIP this year.

Per MiLB transactions:

July 6, 2018 San Diego Padres optioned RHP Robert Stock to El Paso Chihuahuas.

Now that is a great sounding team name.

Or possibly point out the value that can be found in minor league free agent Cash Case...

Their logo is really, really great. I've been thinking about getting their hat since they first came out a few years ago.

Anyway, if guys like Hand are being let go, Sox could feasibly use their unlimited checkbook to completely revamp their pitching rotation and bullpen at a cost lower than previous market value. Is there an argument to not do that?

If guys are being dumped for $$$ reasons, does that mean Perez's option is too much money and they could find a cheaper replacement?

From what we've already read -- and seen happen in the industry -- in just two days, it appears mid- to small market teams are in such sorry shape with lost revenues that it's possible the Sox can find better replacements.

I think the MLB Trade Values site had Perez listed at zero value due to his contract.

He had a decent season with us, but if the market is in a serious downturn, he may be a casualty.

I would say the chances of Perez' option being picked up are going down....

More shocking is that the Guardians did not (try to?) find a taker for Hand. I would think he was very tradable. Waiving/releasing him just saves them $1 million.

Are some teams going to be that strapped for cash?

That would be $6M more added to the spending budget but one more rotation slot to fill.

And the anticipation is that you could sign a Perez replacement for less than $6M. Maybe even get a guy on a multi year deal for less than 6M?

Yup, kinda weird. Maybe the Cleveland Baseball Team is currently bouncing checks?

Hand him over. Hand was 16-for-16 in save opportunities.

Barnes was 9-for-12! Blowing 25% of your saves seems like 50% to fans (I still have PTSD from a Toronto game in '19, when he was hitting guys and bouncing pitches to the backstop)... on a decent team, that's like a blown save every other week. And then you don't have a decent team.

Except that not every blown save results in a loss....

If Hand clears waivers, that screams volumes about the free agent market this offseason....

If he gets past the Sox, I'm going to believe that the Sox are going to replicate 2020 next year. :(

I don't understand -- MLB trade rumors list him as a free agent. Or are there waiver claim protocols, like Texas and Detroit get first-Hand accountability?

Will beni take the tampon out and play in 2021?

The only thing we will be rooting for is the yankees to lose in the postseason again next year.

WELCOME TO THE CLIFF! (it's real)

This little cliff is no match for Bloom.

Well, since no team traded for him, maybe teams don’t want him at that price and are willing to see what he gets as a free agent (and one without a Qualifying Offer)...

More sexism. Great!

I’d have to believe a one year deal with Brad Hand is really tempting. $10 mil for an elite closer is not bad. Heck, you pick him up, use him for half a season, then deal him for major prospects at the deadline, when covid should be mitigated with a vaccine and revenues start rushing back in.
