And on a scale of one to ten, how is henry’s long term strategy for fielding a competitive team year after year looking going forward?

Our starting pitching depth is thinner than a sheet of paper.

Our best position player now plays for the dodgers.

The farm system is a hollow picked over shell of what it once was.

The brightest and best of our baseball operations department are now in Arizona, Chicago and other markets around the country.

Our baseball analytics department is filled with substandard geeks and run by a guy that couldn’t get laid in a women’s prison.

I know the history of how we got to this point in time. What I fail to grasp is where is the strategy going forward?

He's been between a 9 and 10 for 15 years. Our team looked really good, on paper, last year.

This is the first year we look to have such a slim chance, but even then, we are not far from being a playoff team.

I'm more than fine with Henry's record, and we all knew (or should have known) we went all out to set up a window from about 2017-2019 or 2020. The window closed sooner than expected. I won't blame injuries, because the Yanks had more than we did in 2019.

Yes, we look pretty bad, right now, but we are resetting, and I fully expect us to go over the lux tax in 2021. This should help us be pretty close to a pretty competitive team.

I think the Bloom hiring was an excellent one, especially when look at the difficult task at hand. Our farm is actually better than I thought it would be after we got dinged from int'l FA signings a few years back and had very bad draft picks and signing bonus money the last 2-3 years.

I'm thinking 2020 will still be fun to watch, but I do think we might stink up the place, and it could be painful.

No matter how 2020 goes, I like our chances in 2021 (assuming spending $5-19M over the tax line). We lose Pedey after 2021. We may get a nice draft pick 2 years in a row, if we don't get draft penalties for cheating.

I can't assign a 1-10 score going forward, but the point was about Henry's choice-making. I think Bloom was an excellent choice and just what we needed after a GM like DD.

BTW, I haven't seen any analytical geek rankings anywhere. I don't see the Cubs or Diamondbacks as having a better outlook than us.

Now we know why Kabloom hasn't signed any starters...

@chadjennings22

First, Alex Verdugo has to get and stay healthy. Then he has to prove, once again, he’s an impact big league hitter. But once he’s done that, the new Red Sox right fielder would like to prove something else.

He wants to be baseball’s next two-way player.

It works as a noun, verb, almost anything. It's better than "Hang Em" for sure.

Checked the clock when I got home

And realized I was alone

Sat for hours by the window

Wonderin' where did you go?

Couldn't eat or sleep at all

Took the pictures off the wall

Paced the place as time moves slow

And I'm wondering where did you go?

Where'd you go? Where'd you go?

I want to know

Time I hear the tick of the clock, tick tock

You watch the hours go by

No way it's that time already

Too late - see how time flies

No time left

No time left

No time left

There's no time

Left for you

Left for me

There's no time left

There's no time left

While at it, if JD opts out, make Dalbec a two way player. He can DH and become the closer.

For rule geeks out there, I'm assuming a DH can come in to pitch.

And that was today's Boston punk rock corner with your pal, mvp.

The beauty of those lyrics is that they work for a country song too, just need to work in the missing dog and broke down pickup truck. A reference to "Momma told me so" wouldn't hurt. Good stuff, MVP

The DH can definitely come in to pitch but someone else needs to take his place in the field or the dugout. I debated whether this required clarification for the literalists among us.
