And now I hear that in order to speed up games, outfielders will be required to sprint to flyballs no matter where they are. Also, on any ball hit in the air, the fielder will be required to jump up and catch it rather than wait for it to come down...

And catchers can't throw the ball around the horn after a K anymore.

And above all, no more breaking pitches. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line! So get the ball on a straight line! And faster! These curve balls take too long! Microseconds matter!

Also if pitchers only throw fastballs, it also ends the sign stealing scandal...

RH batters now have to run clockwise to third.

And any player hitting a home run has to sprint around the bases. Any hitter taking longer than 12 seconds to circle the bases is immediately declared out...

Going with the little league - 5 run rule per inning

That would have saved Perez and his accomplices a run today. These rule changes are funny on a not funny day. Whoever said Roenicke was a patsy, in another thread, had no idea how true that was. Ol' Ron got furled up in the4 Sale.

First of all, you left out the biggest Dirt Dog of all time. A fellow who went by Trot.

Trot's dirt doggedness was the very reason why JD Drew's defense was so underappreciated.

Why even bother running the bases? The ump can give the home run signal and the batter can go straight back to the dugout.

Agree. Drew glided out there and made it look easy.

WTF? Guys! We're talking about PLAYERS being high! Not posters getting wasted and blathering on about whatever extraneous topics they want. C'mon now. FOCUS!!!!

Drew did little things that just went unappreciated. Even experienced MLB outfielders routinely practice charging groundball so they can field them with the proper foot forward and no stutter stepping, and in such a way they can come up throwing. And in games, we all see them routinely stutter step or field the ball awkwardly and take an additional step or two to throw.

Drew just did it flawlessly so often. Like he was trying to teach them all how...

If it's a fact that alcohol impairs judgment, how can one be held responsible for actions while under the influence?

In Plato's LAWS, he recommends a specific punishment for a crime. If you commit the same crime while drunk, the punishment is DOUBLED.

Fair enough... but Mantle supposedly got around that -- when his vision was TRIPLED from the night before -- by just swinging at the ball in the middle.

Trot was the OG.

pedroia needs to be on the list too.

JBj need not apply.

For the record....

JBJ is an absolute dirtdog! LOL :0

The big reason Trot & Pedey are considered MAJOR league dirtdog, is because they were both so slow, they HAD TO DIVE for almost everything to make a play.

LOL :0

JBJ... Makes long runs look easy. Impossible catches look routine.

Still.... NEVER SEEN a RS Center fielder's face, shoulders, etc. So familiar with that wall.

Also, I hear he eats that warning track Dirk for breakfast!

I really hope we don't let this guy go!

Straight up BALLS TO THE WALL!

BEST RS CF'r of any generation!

The downfall of your game relying on straight dirtdogism?

Pedey.

First time I saw him, I told my wife that I LOVED his hustle & dirtdog ethic, but that he was not long for the game.

You simply CAN'T sell out your body on every play, and swing from your arss on every pitch, and expect to have a long career.

Sadly.... I was dead right.

Saddest thing? His career was ended by a douche he stuck up for! WTF? Still dont get that... BUT, I admire his effort to play it off as nothing big.

I guess?

I plugged JBJ into the dirt dog equation and he failed. Sorry.

I would debate you, but then it would invariably end badly for me, where I was once again taken to the corporate Talksox woodshed. Restraining orders issued, and sent out on a Bloomberg apology tour...

Best I issue peremptory mea culpas, self-flaggelate, and beg forgiveness for my transgressions...

Pedroia played for 11 full seasons and in over 1500 games. 99% of all Major Leaguers won’t even come close to those totals.

He still has more games than guys you think have been around too long, like Brett Gardner...
