I'd be worried if I were you. As messed up as 2020 is...

Anything can happen in a 3 game series and there will most definitely be some upsets in the first round based on probability. Yanks could get knocked out sure, but no use worrying about it. I'm just glad they're not playing like dogshit anymore.

They have definitely turned things around, and once again look like a playoff team.

Needless to say, I will be pulling against them every step of the way.

What in the world is all this fuss about Deivi Garcia ? Little Pedro , my butt. He better grow up and get a fastball first .

Looked off today, had bad command and his secondary pitches were flat. That Sox rookie looked pretty good though. Not a super hard thrower but everything he threw had movement and he seemed to have good command. I'm guessing we'll be seeing both of these pitchers quite a bit on the future.

He's a good prospect and off to a nice start, but any comparison to just about any MLB pitcher is probably based on nothing but hope. We've seen Yankee prospects come up with more hype, like when Manny Banuelos was the next Johan Santana and Jesus Motero was the next Miguel Cabrera.

Perhaps those fans were thinking of some other Johan Santana and Miguel Cabrera? Like not the ones who were immensely successful baseball players?

How often do these comparisons of unproven kids to the greats of the game ever work out ? Very , very seldom . I am old enough to remember when Faye Throneberry and Gene Stephens were " the next Ted Williams ." Uh , I don't think so . There have been a few " next Pedros " , but all have come up short .

True, in that it's not just Yankee fans with the Evaluations of Future Glory. Remember when Tony Blanco was the the Next Vlad Guerrero? Turns out he wasn't even the Next Mario Guerrero...

Meanwhile Sox fans are more concerned about Chavis and/or Dalbec being the next Will Middlebrooks...

And that is a legitimate fear, not like the one where we all feared Middlebrooks would be the next Mark Reynolds. I'm not sure why people thought that was such a bad thing....

Deivi has a rough game. I didn’t get to watch, but per game cast, he seemed to lack the upper levels of his fastball. He seemed to be throwing almost exclusively 89-90. He varies his FB speed, so seeing him hit 89-90 isn’t out of the ordinary, but he ramps it up to 95 when he needs it. I didn’t see that on the game cast.

Listen, Garcia has power, but he varies the speeds. He’s got a lights out curveball. He’s got a really good change. But he doesn’t have the power to be a fastball first guy like Cole. He really needs the Fb and curve to be effective as his change cannot carry him. It sounds like his velo was down and his breaking ball was flat. He’s gonna get hammered whenever that happens

She's got nothing on Jenny Dell.

WMB had the perfect view of her behind the Sox dugout from his spot at 3B. That's the kind of thing that makes your bros look at you and then give you a fist bump out of respect.

The Yankee fans on their forum think this team is horribly constructed and managed. :D

LOL I like Yankees fans when their team is struggling. :D

Kimmi you should really treat yourself some time and check out the game threads when they lose. It's comedy gold. Some of the Yankee fans there are very pessimistic and also quite funny in their own way. They believe that Boone is a puppet who is being told what to do by Cashman and the "Kids in the Hall", a little crew of analytics guys parked in the corridor just outside the dugout. :D

ERA isn’t everything and you know it.

Garcia has a 0.8 WAR and 4.15 WHIP in his first 6 starts. That would translate to a 4.0 WAR over 30 starts. Pretty solid, especially considering he just turned 21.

Houck has been lights out, no doubt. He’s also 3 years older than Deivi. and it doesn’t diminish what Deivi has done this year. His only hiccup was agains the Sox, who inexplicably have a player who can only hit breaking balls.
