He had one bad night. 16 for 16 in the regular season. Yankees are the best offense in the league when they get going. It happens. Don't let your hatred of the Yankees derange your logic and thinking.

Too late...

Some of you are probably upset at the outcome, but that looked like a fun game to watch last night

It would have been a fun game had I been able to stay up and watch it.

I'm kind of glad I didn't though.

If I were TB, I’d have Snell go game 2. Snell has a rough history with NY and with the Yanks righty loaded lineup, it makes more sense to have Glasnow go in 1 and be available on short rest for 5. You know Cole is gonna come back on short rest if the series goes 5. Also, Snell was never built up, so he’s a guarantee to need 4 innings of pen work in both games. I’m aware they have a good pen, but you don’t want to have to rely on them, especially if playing from behind.

If Cole can stay hot, the Yanks will be tough to beat. The problem this year was Cole’s crappy spell coincided with Rays games. Who knows if it was a Cole issue or the Rays being good. Either way, he’s different right now. Also, Tanaka owns the Rays. So our 1-2 can neutralize theirs. Their pen has been better, not that the Yanks dont have the personnel, but they haven’t performed up to snuff for them.

I think this thing is gonna go 5. If Snell is the game 1 starter, Yanks are winning in 5. If the Rays go Glasnow, I’m picking the Rays in 5

Cole had a 4.96 ERA and surrendered 5 HRs in 16 IP vs Tampa this year. He might not be a given to win 2 if he faces them twice, especially on short rest.

Snell had 3.38 ERA against the Yankees in 8 IP this year wit 2 HRs allowed...

And Cole's career record vs. the Rays is not much better than Snell's vs. the Yanks.

Kind of a one-sided analysis by Jax.

A one - sided analysis by Jax is not exactly unusual. Par for the course.

What a surprise that the rays are turtling agains the yankees when the games mattered the most. Joke.

Cole and Green did their job. The ball is handed to Britton with a lead. At this point, the rest is up to the well paid relievers

Now we literally need to win one game from 2-4 and we should win the series. We can hit and drive Snell out and Cole (outside of Ji Man) can shut this lineup down. Boone pulled Cole before 100 pitches for the sole purpose of readying him for game 5. Smart move. 1-0 Yanks

Have to give Cole a lot of credit for not giving up any more blood after Choi's homer. He showed some real backbone there.

The Yanks offense is coming alive against great pitching. Bieber, Carrasco, and Snell. 3-0, 31 runs scored. Bout time.

Big game tonight. Boone pitting the kid vs Glasnow may be Boone’s finest work. I’ve been really critical of Boone, but this is a chess move I like. Glasnow is going tonight. He’s been lights out this year based on peripherals. Tanaka is the only other Yankee trump card vs the Rays. Deivi and Happ are ???. So if Deivi can hang with Glasnow, bonus. If he doesn’t and we lose, you have a tasty matchup of a diminished Charlie Morton vs a seasoned post season performer in Tanaka. I like those chances. It’s be great to sweep here, but realistically, this thing is gonna go 5 and I think we have a decided as advantage in game 5. Gotta take one of the next three

Now that the Yanks have a 1-0 lead, being in a pitcher's park really helps them, since the Rays aren't exactly an offensive juggernaut. They're going to need to manufacture runs, which is hard to compete against a HR driven offense. I don't think the Yankees sweep either way, but it is over with a win tonight. Interested to see the Rays strategy tonight. How long do they leave Morton in there, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them play a little small ball if they don't get to Deivi early
