Not on the first ballot.

If I remember right, you were the one saying that a player is a HOF or not, and it doesn't matter if it's the first or the last ballot

I'm not sure I said it, and it really shouldn't matter, but when you look at history, it would seem unfair that Jete gets a unanimous vote, which is different from making it first ballot.

He will make it first ballot. I wouldn't vote for him on any ballot, except maybe his last try.

I never said that. Being bad but not horrible might still allow you to get in.

Or, if you are a great hitter (Jeter was not), it could outweigh being a really bad fielder.

Jeter was a good hitter, a good runner and a horrible defender at an important position. It's close, but I say no- certainly on the first ballot, but it looks like I'm in a tiny minority on this case.

How many players get in with a unanimous vote first ballot? Do you think Jeter deserves that?

100% of the votes is only for a handful of players, Rivera is one of them, Jeter is not.

Also Griffey, Maddux, Ryan and some others should have been 100%

By the way, Jeter was an average defender, if you take his career as the complete sample, you're trying to take his last few years as his career norm.

Jackie Robinson

He went through a lot, but his numbers don't equal those on my short list. I'd be fine with him at 100%. I left of a lot of pitchers, too.

At this pace, even Schilling will be out of the hall for one more year

Bonds & Clemens will make it on their last ballot chance.

Schill may never make it, but maybe his last ballot will be his best shot.

Looks like Walker and Jete go this year.

The ballot in 2022 will be interesting, Bonds & Clemens might finally be in the HOF and the first year for Arod, with the way he has worked in his image over the last few years, I'm assuming he will be in the hall in less years than Bonds and Clemens

It's going to be close for Walker. We'll see if he gets in.

Jete misses by one.

Walker 76.6% on 10th ballot.

Schill gets 70% on 8th ballot. Close call on future votes.

Clemens 61% on 8th. My guess is he gets in on the 10th.

Bonds 61% on 8th. Same as Roger.

Vizquel 53% on 3rd. I doubt he makes it.

Next year, these guys will be on the ballot:

Mark Buehrle

Tim Hudson

Torii Hunter

(None are better than Clemens, Bonds & Schill.)

The people that don’t vote obvious players in should have their voting rights taken away. In what world are Jeter and Ken Griffey Jr not hall of famers?

I rhink they look at the short list of unanimous or near unanimous names and don't think those tow are better than some below them.

The bigger injustice is the 5-10 voters who left others off their first ballot.

I'm glad one guy left Jete off. If I had a vote, it would be 2 "no's."

Jeter was an offense stat compiler and thats it. there isnt a world that i vote him into a HoF. he didnt even reach Walkers lifetime WAR and Walker barely made it in to the Hall on his last shot.

My point is that it’s incredibly stupid to not vote for an obviously Hall Of Fame player just so they won’t be “unanimous”. There is no way Mariano Rivera was the only “unanimous” hall of famer.

if babe ruth wasnt 100% - no one should be. ever.

i was not happy mariano got 100%. (deserve has nothing to do with it - Clint Eastwood)

no way on earth jeter should have gotten 100%. god bless that 1 voter.

But the logic behind that is kind of dumb. The guys who didn't vote for Babe or Griffey or Nolan were obviously idiots. So because they were idiots, now current voters have to vote in the same manner? Doesn't make sense to me.
