That's a pretty big stretch Bell.

So after the farm is rebuilt and strong again, I guess we need to give Dombrowski credit for tearing down the farm, which caused Henry to replace him with Bloom?

It was a bit of a stretch.

Let me be clear - I'm actually quite happy that DD is out and Bloom is in.

I just think DD takes a little too much flak for what he did.

He might take flak, but he unquestionably did it. It’s not like a Lucchino situation where everyone hates him for stuff they assume he did...

I don't hate Lucchino either, not in the least. In fact I think he did mostly good things for the franchise.

I think he is a very underrated sports executive. The guy has been part of the front office for numerous championship teams in multiple sports. He’s just not very likable...

Will Bloom do something tonight?

The Rule 5 Draft is tomorrow. The Sox have 6 open spaces on their 40 man roster. The have plenty of room. It’s not uncommon to deal for players about this time of the other team cannot squeeze him or them on to their own 40. It’s how the Sox got Colten Brewer last year...

The Padres and Rays both have quality prospects they have to leave unprotected. Will Bloom spring a deal?

Today is the deadline for having a final 40 man roster for the Rule 5 draft. The Red Sox have 6 open spots on their 40 man. I expect some names added, and there will likely be trades around the league.

With Tampa having a 40 man roster crunch, I expect Bloom to make a trade with them for a prospect or two he is familiar with. (One of there borderline prospects for protection is a shortstop named Lucius Fox, which is a name that should appeal to fans of Batman movies.)

San Diego is in a similar spot with too many good prospects and not enough room to protect them..,

maybe i need to bump my "Fire BLOOM" thread?

Along with 28 pther MLB GMs.

Only the Braves are making moves.

Free agents signed by the Braves: 4

Free agents signed by the rest of MLB: 3, two of whom really just accepted Qualifying Offers.

Per OTM:

“Wednesday night is the deadline for teams to submit their 40-man rosters ahead of December’s Rule 5 Draft.”

Okay. I read 8am somewhere.

With 9 hours until the deadline, only Atlanta has added any names to the 40 man roster...

Probably the best aspect of having Chaim Bloom in charge is getting another team's perspective on both our 40 man roster and the guys playing in our minor league system who are not rostered. With time in place the proximity and personal relationship factor likely leads to a lot of bias in assessing the value of your own assets. " My guys are better because they are mine".

Chaim must have a mental if not computer file book on all our guys. That will help.

Sure. But first give me a list of major league starting players ready to step in?

Lets' take out Kopech and Moncada....unless you think Sox gets Chris Sale and his friendly contract for NOTHING.

Wade Miley? A fifth starter at best that Sox fans couldn't wait to get rid of when he pitched here?

I'll let Moon talk about Shaw, because he had much to say about Shaw in his last year with the Sox.

How many would be on our 40 man roster? You know the team that finished 3rd in the Division.

i mean most on the list are stupid young. it's a question that can't be answered for a handful of years.

there are quite a few on that list that i would love to have in the Farm or on the big club roster.

lets put a pin in the list and revisit it in 2025.

this isn't the first time i will type this nor the last. DD overpaid and/or threw away so many prospects prior to the Sale trade that i very much believe he could have been had for some of the players that were used in prior trades.

Absolutely. The longer we can stretch out these debates the better. ;)

Flags fly forever.

Sale.

Kimbrel.

Sox had nobody ready to take on those two roles.

Miley was part of the farm?
