E-Rod's run at 20 wins continues tonight!

I'm still very excited about E-Rod's chances at winning 20 games. As things stand now:

 

32 starts, 15 quality, 18-6 record, 191.1 innings pitched, 199 strikeouts, 1.3 WHIP and a 3.53 ERA.

 

He pitches tonight and Sunday, so that will be 34 starts. If he pitches 5 innings in each start, he will top 200 innings pitched. Hopefully he pitches at least 6 in each and gets quality starts to at least have 50% of his starts quality. Getting to 200 strikeouts seems virtually assured. Hopefully he can lower his ERA below 3.50. The big question is will he get the 2 wins he needs to join the elite 20 win club?

It'll be interesting to see what line-up Cora puts together for E-rod's start tonight. The line-up should not include Owings, Leon and Gorkys, but with WTF one never knows.

Showcasing them certainly does not help their market value . It would be a surprise to see either one in ST next February , but I think there'll be other surprises to downplay the presence of these two.

Cora does acid before the games and wants to change it up. It’s the only thing he has to look forward to now lol.

 

Hope E Rod can get this win. He has been an incredible down the stretch. Unless Sale gets back to his old self we have a new Ace

I can't imagine they view either of these guys as part of the future- near or beyond.

 

I guess one could argue they are looking for information to see if they are worthy of the 39th and 40th slots on the roster over some rule 5 guys, but that seems weak.

 

I can see playing Travis and Marco and a few pitchers more often, but these two should not be part of any plan, even if the plan is a total rebuild.

I don't agree. This is definitely a career year, but I don't think he plays at this high of a level again

Well that wasn't pretty, but he got the job done. Or maybe more appropriately, the Sox offense got the job done. Next stop, Sunday! The matchup looks favorable.

Betts went out with a sore foot so Gorkys is their backup outfielder. Owings, I don't know Travis could backup but maybe they are trying to showcase them for potential trades. Neither is really MLB capable.

His numbers are not much different from last year- just the wins and IP'd are up.

LOL Your reasoning makes as much sense as any other.

 

ERod got the win, though it wasn't pretty. Reaching 20 wins seems to be such a rare feat these days. Can he do it? Stay tuned!

I think the biggest splash possibility would be trading JD.

IMO, JBJ is the most likely to be traded, though if it were up to me, I'd keep him. I can't see JD being traded unless we're out of contention by the deadline.

AFAIK, Gorkys has been playing because Beni's had some minor injury issues. The only other OF options aren't especially great either. I think AC has seen enough of JD in the OF for one year.
