And Greg Bird, too, right?

Jacko loved Bird at one point. Is he the real deal like Lavarnway or an injured dingus like Mitch?

Bird is an AAAA player....

Jacoby is clearly not on any Red Sox go forward screen , but AC may find that he is very well rested even though he may not be capable of running all the way to first base. The idea of the Yankees swallowing over $21 million for our 26th man does make it intriguing . Could Ells outhit JBJr or Gorky Hernandez . Or JDM in CF and Ellsbury DH'ing, what could go wrong ? Talk about a flame out by a guy who should have been able to make Brett retire 3 years ago.

I don't think anyone was serious about an Ellsbury reunion...

Like a few of our options at first base. Trust me, no fan of Birds nor advocating picking him up. Unless he can pitch the 8th inning.

If Ellsbury was healthy he might be a good 4th outfielder at minimum wage.

Seems like a guy the Rays would snatch up in past years.

And if your aunt had testicles, she would be a good fourth outfielder, too...

That's a good one!

Ha Ha ha!

No one really knows if Ellsbury is healthy or not. The Yankees were designating him as unhealthy the last couple of years to collect insurance on him.

Back when Adrian Beltre took out anyone trying to play LF.

2 years in a row for Ockimey left unprotected, 2nd regime saw that a .100 hitter against Left Handed Pitching that is not a good fielder, probably hoping someone takes him, so Dalbec will move over. 137 K's in 377 at bats, last year. 25 HRS probably only reason he's here.

Might be let go all together.

Beltre ended Kalish and Swihart’s careers.

Well, no, but he did put a serious dent in Jeremy Hermida's career. And another one in his rib cage...

Luck had nothing to do with it. He never even tried to call off Beltre, and whn you play in the short LF of Fenway, you should know that is essential.

That injury has not been why he has missed so many games in the following years.

Why hope someone takes him. He'd be a nice depth player in the minors.

Which one has a swing better tailored to the ballpark in Worcester?

Only go by Minor Leagues,.

Bird .281 BA, 54 HRS, 334K's in 1349 AB's.

Ockimey .239 BA 81 HRS, 675 K's, 1951 AB's.

Double the K's for only 27 more HRS.

If you have almost 2000 AB's in MiLB, and you're not worth protecting, just how big is your upside anyway ? It brings Rusney Castillo to mind.

Yep, time to move on, and put Dalbec at 1st. He'll never beat out Devers at 3rd. You would be stupid moving Devers to 1st.

You don't make 2 moves, all you need is one.

What if Dalbec is the better defensive 3b?

With Ockimey, it would be all about a platoon, so showing his overall numbers matters little.

Yup. Like moving XB to 3b.
