If the Mets are shopping Syndegaard, the Red Sox should offer Benintendi and Casas. Holt and Owing could platoon in LF after we say goodbye to Benintendi.

Hell, put Chavis out there when Moreland comes back.

Even letting Nunez stand out there like a statue would be worth adding Syndegaard.

Maybe they did, but it wouldn’t be enough...

I see many teams looking at Pitching this year at the Deadline. This Deadline is about Pitching, Offense not the strength of Players needed. Not for Prospects that will be dangled. DD is really going to have to pull a rabbit out of his hat, with the Prospects we can offer, compared to other organizations, and their Minors. I see DD looking at rentals. Edited by OH FOY!

That smells like a move that could blow up.

Syndergaard has not been very good lately. He might be in the early stages of big-time decline.

The Mets, per MLBTR, have said they’ll only deal Syndergaard if they get “blown away” by the offer.

Benintendi plus Casas is far from blowing them away...

Now Betts plus Casas might blow them away. But would anyone be willing to pull that type of franchise-altering trigger?

That could easily be the trigger of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Here's what Syndergaard has done over the last month:

3 starts

1 IL stint

16.2 IP

.884 OPSa

All 3 starts in Citi Field, one of the most pitcher-friendly parks.

I know the guy has great stuff, but there are some concerning things in his numbers.

Agree, if he's on the Market Astros will surely be on him, and they have one of the best Minor League Systems their is from Top to Bottom. Astros have some of the best Pitching in the Minors, Mets will want Pitching, not Position players.

The only stopping point there is how stingy the Astros get with prospects sometimes...

Padres too, they are only 2 games out of WC, another team with good Prospects, their Minor League talent is ranked #1 overall.

We'll see. I think there will be a few good pitchers that are traded for much less than people think.

A small question: if we trade Benintendi and let Betts and JBJ walk, how's our outfield looking for 2021?

3 Free agents. Nothing from the system in sight.

Which ones?

But I agree, despite LaRussa’s comments on Yahoo, that the Sox are likely to look at rentals. Or someone no one has considered, like Anthony DeSclafani...

Even if the Sox keep Benintendi, what will the 2021 outfield look like?

I don't know, but maybe we should try to keep a couple of them...

2.seasons of control right ? And you empty out you're Stacked minors ? Nahh not there style .Ricky P on a rental is there style .Rick could net a prospect of weight from the good ole Padres .

Didn't see this before

the Pads have at least 8 prospects in the top 100 prospects lists (depending on which list you see), buying low on Thor is not going to empty their farm, in fact they can ship some prospects which are clearly blocked for some other players, like Luis Urias who is blocked by Tatis Jr or Machado, there are quite a few like him in their system

Not to go out on too much of a limb here, but I think you may be onto something.

I think we should keep all of them. But that depends on how much the FO is willing to pay them. I'm in no hurry to trade off one of the best outfields in baseball.

Pretty simple to me, Sox are not moving him now. Better pay the man, this Off-Season. Or he gone. Even his arbitration will be expensive if you move him this Off Season. Wont get much back, you'll get something but not a lot. 1 year expensive rental, best you can do is give him a QO. Nothing in the Sox Farm, even in the future to have Mookie's impact. Best bet pay the Man. DD don't have the balls to move him.

If Theo was here, wouldn't surprise me if he did a Nomar with him. Kid took chances, that was why he was a good GM.

Dombrowski is about the present, not the future. Theo tried to do both.

Get ready Mr. Henry raise those beer prices.

Nomar was rather a different story, playing the role of the disruptive malcontent, with a mysterious injury that he seemed to be jerking the team around about.

Sort of like Mookie and his contract situation now. If he was committed to the Sox he would get his Agents going on a extension now. Trout had no problem.

Just because a guy decides to test free agency doesn't make him a malcontent.

Red Sox fans turning on Mookie because he hasn't signed an extension kind of makes me sick.
