LHP Brian Johnson (1-0, 12.71) vs LHP John "You're a Means one, Mr. Grinch"(6-4, 2.60)

Look who's back! Orioles might actually have the advantage in the pitching matchup, so let's keep hitting dingers. Win. Dance. Repeat. x5

I think one of the most disappointing things about DD is his never ending faith in Brian Johnson...

Isn't 'never ending faith' kind of strongly worded when the guy is making $575 K?

We’re f***ed. Johnson vs Means.

Sorry. Its just the way it is. We had a good run.

Reverse lock + Thunder Mojo - it's not all bad. :)

He could be replaced by any of a bunch of other pitchers for the same money, but have options left. And possibly can pitch as well...

The other spot starters we've tried have been pretty bad. Johnson might follow suit, needless to say.

Yes, I’m actually starting to see why DD doesn’t get as involved with minor league free agents as I’d like. He isn’t very good st it...

I’m not nervous........

I’m watching Superman from the 70s with Christopher Reeve. Man I forgot how cheesy these things are lol!!

Looks like his strong suit, is he doesn't give up HRS. At least in the Minors he didn't, he got hit though. 622 innings 683 hits.

When was the last time the Red Sox signed a minor league free agent starting pitcher that turned into something good?

Well this could be a tough day for the forum. HOWEVER I have to say I have more confidence in our mainly RH lineup especially v a LH pitcher than I have in our more balanced lineup facing a RH pitcher. I have no confidence of note in our LH hitters hitting a LH pitcher of merit.

End of the day We have one for in a row. If we happen to lose with our garbage pitcher against their Ace so be it. We can live to fight another day. With David Price struggling in his start against Texas it’s amazing we won that game. Honestly I am not expecting a win today but this team sometimes seems to struggle after a tough loss. Hopefully we win but if not hopefully they can shake this off and rebound for the next game.

Naw man. This team needs to start rolling. They got the twinkies after this and the way this team has played 500 teams it could be back to the drawing board once again.

Good answer, although that signing didn't pay off in any meaningful way except for Rich Hill.

It could have paid off in a lesson that career minor leaguers with dazzling radar gun readings might not be better to pursue than aging MLB veterans looking to extend their careers. But that’s what it looks like the Sox did when they signed Brian Ellington and Dan Runzler instead of Francisco Liriano and Josh Tomlin...

Hopefully we are in for a treat and get to see Brian Johnson AND Josh Smith today. Both are great, fun to watch pitchers. Hopefully offense scores 10+ today.

I have more faith, although not much, in Johnson than Smith.

Sort of like Cora's with Nunez at DH. The sick product of IL's, weak bench, and 13 pitchers. You can't have it all. Oh wait, the Yankees do per Jacko
