Painful. Plain painful L. Can’t believe we let this go after Sale’s gem. Lamentable.

You play with basically a 15 man roster having guys like Nunez, JBJ, Pearce, Leon, Thornbugh, Brewer, Hembree, etc that are dead weight. Start bringing up some fresh bodies. No doubt replacing the aforementioned is a pick from a hat away.

Bound to lose a game eventually. Unfortunate the offense could t produce. Sale was fantastic again.

Just a lot of bad stuff tonight. Mookie and Beni at bat. Two 2 run dingers off Sale and Workman. Brazier two incomprehensible walks in the 11th, then a hard single by someone hitting under .200.

I do not for the life of me under all the griping about Chavis’s defense at 2b, which looked pretty solid tonight. And, you know, the fact that he is hitting up a storm, as remarkable as that is for a Sox second baseman, should not be held against him.

One more thing. Beni looks slower this year—at the plate, on the basepaths, and in the field. Did his agent tell him to bulk up and get more dingers?

Who knows, but there are not any more dingers.

The top of the order & Brasier were the let downs tonight.

Disagree vehemently. With Chavis and Vazquez both hitting well, this lineup will be better than last year’s. With JBJ in the lineup, the Sox still have 8 good bats. Leon is good behind the plate and has an OPS over .650. Bullpen is ok too, just nit tonight.

That doesn’t mean I’m not disgusted with this loss because I am.

Is the record 26 Ks for an extra inning game?

Per Baseball Almanac, it the 4th time and ties the record. First time it's been done in 11 innings (the others took 20, 18 and 12 innings).

It probably won't count, but the record for strikeouts in 9 innings is 20. That's been done 5 times individually and once as a team. Sox pitchers had 21 Ks tonight thru 9 innings.

Sure hope all those K's make everyone feel better and rationalize what happened to the Win/Loss, the only stat that counts in the end. Brasier , for whatever good he did last year, has lost his confidence and ability to throw strikes. Benintendi will never be the player some think he is. Average but nothing special. Sale does not seem to get the support that he is due given his abilities. Overall, a ridiculous loss and wasted effort.

Here are my comments and observations about tonight's game and this Red Sox team.

First, wow about Chris Sale. It was pretty obvious in the first couple of innings that it was going to be a special night for Sale. I had a strong feeling that he was going to throw a no-hitter. As the K's started to pile up, I thought Cora might let him come out for the 8th inning to give him a shot at the record. I understand that with his pitch count that Cora didn't want to push it. The crowd booed when he didn't come out for the 8th.

Michael Chavis swings so hard and he obliterated his HR. He's not very big, but what power!

In the 8th inning with 2 outs and an open base, I didn't like the decision to pitch to Blackmon who I consider to be the Rockies best hitter. It didn't turn out well.

When Reynolds missed the pitch before the game winning hit in the 11th inning, I was thinking that Reynolds was right on that pitch and Brasier was lucky that Reynolds didn't hit it a mile.

As for our late inning bullpen, they have out performed until now, but there isn't a lot of reliable talent out there. I like Workman, but I have said this before. He isn't an 8th inning guy. As for Brasier, we caught lightening in a bottle with him last season. Before the end of the 2020 season, he will either be out of the big leagues or he will be mopping up somewhere. The pen needs help. Calling Craig Kimbrel.

Some observations:

Beni & the Betts=0-11 with 6K's. IMHO, if you don't put your expectations too high on Beni, you'll be less disappointed. The prediction for him being a great player may have been mistaken. As for Betts, I hope I'm wrong, but last season may have been a career year for him. He'll still put up respectable numbers in the future, but nothing like 2018.

That being said, a great pitching performance by Sale, who made one mistake and it was to the Rockies' best hitter. Brasier is probably going back to Japan and Workman was overdue for a bashing.

In every respect a terrible loss and a true back breaker.

You can add Workman to that list

If I told you that the Rockies would strikeout 21 times in 9 innings, and we would hit 3 HRs, what would you think the score was?

Given the current state of play in MLB, 3-0.

Ffs. I go to bed right after sales 17th K and wake up to this s***. Got to send sale out for the 8th. I knew they wouldn't because of the shoulder problems last year.

I know it was cold for both teams last night but both Beni and Betts seemed to be impacted by it. Non one mentioned a play that I thought was another key. Bogie didn't react well on a ball hit to third and was forced out at 2nd by a whisker. If he ran hard from the get go, we have two on and Moreland's hit might have resulted inn two runs instead of one. On such plays, games are won and lost.

Let me get this straight. Sale finished last year diminished with a shoulder injury. He starts out this season with no velocity and when he finally builds it back up, you want him to start an inning at 108 pitches in freezing cold weather? Consider Sale to be on the Pedro pitch count going forward.

108 pitches on a cold-ass night in May is plenty.
