JDM really blew that one. If Mookie had been in RF, that runner would have been out at the plate. When will Cora learn that JDM is the worst right fielder in the history of MLB?

I don't get sending 4 of the duds out the bullpen in a winnable game.

They only have two non-duds. And even one of them might be a dud in disguise...

And officially the Legend of Rudy Pemberton is erased from our minds...

2 runs in 5 innings was part of the problem? Did you stop watching the game after the 5th inning? Would you like a briefing on what happened after Sale left the game?

Since when is pitching 5 innings by the team's Ace not a problem. If the SOX get 5 innings from VAL tonight, that's a different story.

Given that Shane Greene has saved all 10 of Detroit’s prior wins, does that mean this 4-run lead is Detroit’s largest in the ninth inning this season?

Thank god for Leon.If ANY other catcher were catching today, he would have thrown less than 5IP. Sale saved the BP! Clutch.

Sox remain one of 8 teams in MLB with single digit win totals. The good news is that with a 7-1 run through the rest of April, they can finish 16-15. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging

Ace went 5 and gave up 2. Bullpen so far has gone 3+ and given up 5 with 2 on and no outs in the 9th, so I'm having a hard time blaming Sale.

And the lineup has 3 runs against the 5th best staff in MLB.

All in all, I have to say this one is on the bullpen.

Though I agree our offense was good enough to win today and should have..... Sale is still a part of the problem. He was far from bad, but our Ace has had 1 game this season where he has made it further than 5 innings. It is very concerning. The bullpen has had A LOT of work lately with the rotation sucking, however the rotation looks to have found their stride and hopefully this average game from Sale is a sign of good things to come. But this still isn't Chris Sale, and he will be the first to tell you that. With that said..... he still gave us a chance to win and the bullpen was a massive failure. This offense is no where near what they were last year, we aren't going to put up 8 runs or more a game so it doesn't matter how bad the pitching is. Maybe down the line we will, but right now the pitching needs to be near flawless for us to have a chance. I don't think we have put up 8 runs once this season actually.

In our last 6 games we have put up 19 runs. Hell we put that up in one game last year against Baltimore lol!!

Well, I'm glad I missed most of this one, but I'm not glad I'll miss game 2 and the Bruins game. It takes work to maintain a 100 average in a class. Win. Dance. Repeat

Neither one of us missed much. Sad..... even with this lineup I was expecting a hell of a good performance at home after coming off a sweep over Tampa..... Silly me.

DD has got to get rid of some of this dead weight in the BP. Brewer, Hembree, Poyner, Johnson. They all suck. Workman isn't much better. He could go too. DFA the lot of them!

Yup. And then simply replace with all those readily available Cy Young candidates. I really don't see why the RS stick with these guys.

The replacements were available in the off season. The FO assumed they could stay lucky and skate through without spending or critically evaluating the talent. If the guys we have are the best possible combination of relief pitching then I feel bad for baseball.

I think I finally figured out my problem with this 2019 version of the Sox. They simply boring, not interesting or exciting in any way. So we pick on the usual suspects and run them into the ground while the team as a whole slumbers on. No f'ing excuse for not scoring 5 or more at home.

You are not going to make much of a living in this game swinging at pitcher's pitches with less than two strikes Beni

Winning the Ws last season fir the 4th time in 15 seasons was a great accomplishment. But it did induce a coma that has removed all sense of urgency and motivation on the field and in the FO. Whatever happens is cool and not to lose sleep over. get your extension or big payday FA and move on. It is not surprising and shouldn't be real disappointing because it may be nothing but human nature. Just don't get the idea that you may repeat and be dominant like the Patriots have been. One thing to note with Bill B. is the willingness to change the personnel mix after a SB win.

He was supposed to be a perennial batting champion candidate according to buster olney. I think it's obvious that won't be the case.
