Now, if he averaged 3 WAR for a catcher over his career I may consider that great.

Well, at least you agree that Posada wasn't great either then.

I never said he was great.

But he certainly put up a heckuva lot more WAR than tek did..............

He was definitely a good catcher, he just wasn't great.............................

I would think maybe 4-5?

I think it also depends on position.

Averaging 4 WAR per season for a career is a crazy expectation. Even Jeter only managed 3.7...

Jeter was an overrated stiff. If he was a better defender he'd be above 4.

My point was never about "career". It was about a specific 6-7 year stretch.

Stop trying to move the goal posts.

According to these measures the Mariners will play 26 games against teams better than the 2019 Red Sox:

Hometown bias is found on most team forums.:)

The Mariners rotate broadcast announcers but an outside fan's lack of familiarity can be excused.

Until someone proves otherwise, the Red Sox are the best team in baseball.

As far as the Mariner's announcers go, I am pretty certain that every time I watch a Sox/Mariners game on the Seattle feed, Dave Sims is announcing. And he is extremely annoying.

Many Seattle fans find Dave Sims annoying, although Sims rarely comes over to the radio side where I listen to Rick Rizz and Aaron Goldsmith (and Shannon Drayer and Mike Blowers).

Plus, he put ARod in his place.

He was great for a period of time.

You mean by going after him with full catcher's gear, sticking a glove in his face while not even taking his mask off?

Exactly, unlike Clemens throwing a broken bat at a player (Piazza), then telling the ump, "I thought it was the ball!".

'

What? Did he think he was playing kickball, where you can throw the ball at the runner?

Clemens gave several stories, which is how we all knew he was lying.

He even thought st one point Piazza threw the bat at him intentionally. Personally I think Piaza owed him a bat throw to the head...

I always thought lowly of Piazza after that- for not going after Roger.

Clemens is such a dick. He clearly yelled to the ump, "I thought it was the ball!" The lamest excuse ever given in the history of mankind.

As anyone who has played sports at any level knows, it's easy to be a bad-ass tough guy when (1) you're in full pads, and/or (2) you have more team-mates around you than the other guy.
