... apparently is a Rhode Island native who wants to pitch in the Northeast and is willing to accept 3 years.

Dombrowski reportedly won’t go beyond two years for Robertson.

This is a very rare instance where Dombrowski is more conservative than me. Either this means he knows something about Robertson that makes him shy away, or, this might be a fairly disturbing new trend in our formerly free-spending GM...

have not seen the report he would not go beyond 2 years.

He’s not an RI native, he’s an Alabama native. He currently lives in RI

All the more reason he’d like to be on the Sox.

Robertson is certainly a good option at closer. I’m surprised DD won’t go 3 years. But he might know something about Robertson I don’t know. (Might? Yeah right. He knows plenty of things about Robertson I don’t know.) Or maybe Robertson isn’t his guy or is his Plan B and he’s posturing for now until Plan A makes a decision...

Robertson could be a useful piece in the bullpen. But I wouldn't put too much faith in him. He is showing some signs of being past his prime. He is three years older than Kimbrel, with a career ERA almost a full run higher. Obviously , he will come cheaper .

Lots of different ways we can go in the bullpen, some decent names out there.

There are a number of possible Kimbrel replacements out there . I would put Britton and Familia at the top of my list.

Britton would be my top choice, Familia worries me.

Rbertson has been a very good relief pitcher now for a bunch of years both in NY and in Chicago. He is likely to fit in well in Boston as well.

The two or three year contract may either get him to Boston or force him to look elsewhere. I can see Dombrowski's thoughts of a two year

deal for a 34 year old guy.

Fisk, I also like Britton over Familia if Dombrowski is looking at both of these guys to fill the same role.

I've never been that high on Robertson, and his age scares me now.

I think Britton will be too costly. Maybe he'd agree to an inflated one year deal, so he can prove he is still dominant and durable.

We could offer a second year option with a hefty buyout.

I'd rather go cheaper with Ottavino or Familia and then use the left over money to go towards adding another quality set-up man.

I think Britton, Robertson, Familia and Ottavino will all get similar contracts.

My order would be Britton, Robertson , Ottavino and then Familia.

Maybe Dombrowski is finally starting to listen to me.

I like Robertson, but his age is a concern.

It might be my imagination, but it seems like he often walks the bases loaded before working his way out of the jam. In other words, high drama late innings.

Kind of sounds like Kimbrel

His wife is from Medfield which is most likely why they live in the area. Happy wife, happy life.

And therein lies the problem.

Robertson wants his wife to be happy for 3 years. Dombrowski only wants her happy for two...

Maybe it's even worse than that. Maybe Dumbo thinks Robertson will retire after year 2 and really wants Robertson to suffer after he is stuck in RI 365 days a year forced to eat hot wieners, party pizza and will forget all the regular accepted rules of driving.

Or suffer through a diet of Johnny cakes and coffee milk...

I might try Britton, if he agrees to a big one year deal. He may agree, in order to build up for a longer term mega deal next winter.

I think he will get too much money and too many years for my liking.

I'd rather get Eovaldi and Ottavino (or Familia).

Someone needs to take eovaldi up in a helicopter over Houston and show him the giant cancer causing cloud that hangs over Houston and causes Houston to have super high cancer rates! There is a reason md Anderson is in Houston.

Time for eovaldi to come back home to Boston!

Robertson has too much yankee stink on him.

Britton on the other hand would be a nice addition.

You do realize Britton pitched for the Yankees, too, right?

Good one. I live in Sugar Land, just soutwest of Houston, and the winds keep us relatively clean, but you are right. It's nasty here and southeast of Houston. There is very little government regulation here. Businesses love Texas.
