@JimBowdenGM

There is a growing belief amongst NL GM’s that the DH will be instituted for NL as early as 2021. FWIW.

i love when Manfred listens to us.

I want MORE bat flips.

Bunting died when those Yankee idiots didn't bunt off of Schilling in the playoffs.

Good. I'm fine with the opener as well.

Apparently there are still some issues with the robo umps. Some pitches they can't determine as strike or ball.

No teams bunted on CC. I could never understand that.

His gravity would've just sucked those balls up like a vacuum.

https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2020/02/mlb-postseason-changes-league-seriously-considering-move-from-5-to-7-playoff-teams-letting-certain-clubs-pick-opponents-report.html

MLB is reportedly considering changing the playoff format, allowing 7 teams in each league, among other weird changes. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Hard to imagine a 7 team format that doesn't leave the buy team(s) waiting too long to play.

1 buy team, 6 teams play a 5 game series?

2 buy teams, 3 teams wait for the play-in winner to join for 5 game series?

I shutter to think they go to 8 teams, but there'd be a lot of money in all those playoff games and having more teams in the regular season race, too.

8 teams would also result in literally more than half the league making playoffs. With so many bad teams, I really don’t think we need that.

Agreed, and it cheapens the 162 game schedule designed to separate the good from the bad.

The only change I could see as being a possible improvement would be to go with 6 teams and do away with the play-in game and have the two best division winners get a buy while the 3-6 seeds play a short 3 game series to get it to 4 teams. 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5.

I was hoping we could get World Series games on Christmas Day somehow...

Like the NBA, whose postseason sometimes runs through the All Star break of the following season...

Warm climes (or domed stadium cities) could bid for the World Series like the Super Bowl.

i have fully advocated a super bowl WS in the past and will continue to do so.

the ALCS & NLCS will remain 7 game series.

the World Series will be renamed the America's Pastime Championship Game or MLB Championship Game.

It is a winner take all 1 game championship to occur on a Sunday evening in late October. there will be a minimum of 3 days built in between end of CS and APCG.

the 7th inning stretch will be sponsored by Coke or Budweiser and cities will bid to host the APCG.

Too much money on the table. Hell, they may go 9 games.

Football is far more likely to be the "best team wins" scenario than baseball. In football, the teams that win the SB typically have a 75% or higher win percentage in the regular season. In baseball, the team with the most wins in history only won 72% of their games. Most of the time, the WS winning club wins between 90 and 100 games in the regular season, meaning they won between 55-62% of their games. The variability in baseball makes a single game title completely and utterly useless. I actually don't like the WC play-in either. The only 1 game "play-offs" should be the tie breakers to get into the playoffs. That is about it. Otherwise, every team should be given the shot of losing a game and still getting off the mat.

I hate the idea of expanding the POs beyond 5 teams. I really do. Baseball doesn't have 32 teams like football does, yet football has 6 playoff spots per conference. The proposal Manfred is talking about is a 7 team PO per league? So just under half the teams in baseball will make the POs? That is absolutely stupid.

The only addition to the playoffs that I would make is to keep the 5 teams per league, but make the WC playoff a best of 3 with a single game at the WC2's park on day 1 and a DHer at the WC1's park on day 2.

Wow what a great idea (in response to the article). And how about a play-in tournament between the bottom of the league for the 7th spot in the playoffs??? That would make the MLB even more money!... errr, I mean, be super fun!

They tried 9 games way back when. 7 is good.

@tykelly11

Actual lunch on the road at MiLB Spring Training. One slice of deli meat and cheese, an apple, a Gogurt, and a Nature Valley bar. When we tried to make salads at our home complex before getting on the bus, we were told it was not allowed because lunch was already provided.
