Here's hoping Lester, Madden, and Theo are 'rocked' to an early exit tonight.

Sadly, I completely agree. I'm rooting for the Rockies big time. They got a 1-0 lead, but Lester looks very tough, hitting his spots, throwing fastballs, and mixing in just enough breaking stuff.

Maddon made a brutal move choosing Heyward to hit in that critical situation instead of Schwarber. Game on the line and he chose the inferior hitter. Cubs fans are howling about it on the forum I checked.

Looks like pitching matters in the post season. Who knew. Lester threw a tough 6 innings but is down to a sac fly. Ottovino of the Rockies could be a RS reliever with his scrambled 7th inning effort, but escaped unharmed.

Can Theo and Joe's Cubs get it done with 6 outs to go? Probably so.

Sure enough, Ottavio looking like (nameless RS Reliever) gives up a stolen base to a guy with more SB's than PA's this year and Baez drives him in so it's 1-1 in the 8th. Lester off the hook for breaking Cubs hearts.

Whatever happens, the good news is that ESPN won't be involved in any more PO games after tonight. No more Ass-roid.

he will be hired by FOX

I thought it was a questionable move as well.

Ottavino was good, with the exception of giving a free-swinger a hittable pitch on an 0-2 count.

I wouldn't fault him for giving up a SB to a track star. And he was nearly victimized by catcher's interference, which is not his fault, either. But he got out of the rest of that jam very well...

My stupid plan of using Wright for the first two innings would have been a whole lot better than this travesty we are witnessing in the 6th inning. Sale is fine, all right, but the bullpen stinks to high heaven.

We could have brought Wright in the game.

I was yelling at Cora thru my tv “why no Wright???” For the 7th inning.....

If Wright had been healthy and entered the game after Sale, the bullpen travesty would have been a non issue as well. Wright did not have to start the game for the Sale/Wright tandem to be effective.

Sale needed 24 pitches to get out of the 1st. Had he followed Wright, I contend he would have breezed thru the 3d inning on 12 pitches. What would have been oh so nice last night was 2 innings from Wright, 6 from Sale, and 1 from Kimbrel.

Or maybe Sale would have struggled even more because he's not used to entering a game in the 3rd inning.

Regardless, if Wright were available, I still don't see the advantage of your scenario over getting 6 from Sale, then 2 from Wright, then 1 from Kimbrel. Yes, I realize that Sale did not go quite 6, but I think the point stands.
