Johnson, lefty vs. Roark, righty

 

2d straight start for Johnson with Wright on DL. Five days ago he went 4, gave up 1, and Velazquez got the win after going 2 innings. I'm guessing both will go again tonight because we beat the Angels 4-2 five days ago.

 

Nevertheless, as was the case last night, I think our pitching is vastly over matched. I'm hoping JDM will be back in the lineup and maybe get a single, which would be nice. Nobody else will be able to hit Roark. And you can bet the farm that Bryce Harper will nail the first fastball he gets from Johnson.

 

NOTE THE 6 PM START TIME TONIGHT. And the temp should still be in the 90's by then, plus humidity of course. Not good.

I forgot to mention the Sox only have a putrid 1 game lead over the Yankees. The most wins and best record in MLB mean little if you can't hit Severino and have to rely on your pitcher for crying out loud to deliver the crucial bases loaded double against Scherzer. What a sham that was.

Cora is making another error here, leaving Benintendi in ( instead of tomorrow off) and putting Nunez in for Holt at 2B is not playing the hot hand. This is a game of trends and streaks both good and bad. I 'm not getting Cora here. And it isn't any lefty/righty matchup BS

Going back to last Friday, the regular offense has scored 1 , 11, 1 and 1 plus Porcellos 3 run double. The 1's don't get the prize. A win tonight behind Johnson et alia would be a big deal. Nationals are only 1 game over .500 vs the Sox 28. Who would you bet on?

Gotta think that the Nunez choice has to do entirely with the trade deadline... as in 'how do we work this out?' Do we move on Gennett or do we prioritize a relief pitcher as in Thornberg may be in the lineup in the next couple days. What's our biggest need? RP or 2b? Tough decision esp with little time to check out T-berg.

Oh, the Nunez haters who want Holt, like myself. Actually I credit Nunez with doing what he can with limited talent left in his body. No real complaint but would still start Holt day to day with Nunez off the bench. But then I don't get Cora money for having opinions

I was fool enuf to try mowing my lawn today... what a mistake. Took about 2 years off my life. (92 here now and 50% humidity)
