There's certainly no need for it. But I assume it makes money and there must be enough fan interest to generate that money.

Myself, I haven't watched an inning of it in decades.

The networks paid for it, so there is money for MLB. I wonder how important it is in the network package.

It’s an exhibition game. Does it matter? And now that there is inter league play, is there any need for this game at all?

How relevant or important the game is has nothing to do with my post.

i love the HR derby. i also enjoy watching the All Star game itself. even though it is meaningless and just an exhibition. it is usually a collection of the worlds best baseball players on the same field. that is good enough for me.

If it is a meaningless game there is no getting the selections right. It is a showcase. Give the fans what they want.

When you consider this game was originally started to create a retirement fund for aging and former players, the reasons for still having it become less and less. Especially given the current salaries and the MLBPA. It's not like any former players are struggling financially as there were in 1935.

The only reason it continues is tradition. I'm fine with that and I'm fine with fan voting for players. As long as no one ever tries to attach any significance to this game again. The whole "home field in the World Series" was about the dumbest idea ever in MLB history...

I believe it is the only professional all star game to still receive network coverage, so they must think it has some value...

I think the Networks still value it.

But this time it counts!

Three Joses in the starting lineup.

Reminds me of my son's favorite joke when he 6 or 7.

What did the fireman name his sons?

Jose and Hose B.

Meh.

In keeping with an illegal migrant theme:

A border control team stops some wetbacks on the border and proceeds to strip search them.

They have all the men drop their trousers for inspection.

One guard comes upon something he has never seen. A man with to penises. He asks the two peckered man "What do you call this?"

The wetback responds "Hose A and Hose B".

its 2018.

Crackers are gonna have a real issue in a few years when they are the minority.....

Time to outlaw country music made after 1979, polo shirts, salmon shorts, golf, unseasoned food, etc...

On my town's Facebook page, a resident complained that the cops were called on them because they were playing "God Bless the USA" too loud when it was only 10pm at night and they don't drink and they were just trying to respect the troops because people at the party had refurbished a tank and if it wasn't for the troops we'd have no freedom and they pay taxes so why did the cops have to bug them because all they wanted to do was sing that they were PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN and why didn't the town just respect the troops?!?!?!?

White things like that should be outlawed as well. That's the whitest thing I've seen in a long while and I spent my vacation at the Vineyard.

As a tanned white person I find that term offensive. I'm at least Nilla Wafer.
