I hear you. I'm just saying that those prospects could have been used in the Sale trade (which may have allowed us to retain moncada).

Kimbrell was taking on salary + big time prospects. it should be one or the other. not both.

 

Given the current performance of the prospects DD surrendered, which player-Sale or Kimbrel-would you not have wanted on your team in exchange for those prospects?

the point im trying to make is we could have had both Sale & Kimbrell + still have moncada. DD overpaid for Kimbrell to begin with which used up prospects which led to having to use moncada to get sale.

Where is there space in the garage for the Ferrari? There is no payroll available thanks to Ben's asshat budget choking contracts. As to the 8 guys on the field and the DH, we will have 11 players for 9 spots when Pedroia returns. No room there either.

Can you imagine Lefty chamging what worked because he walked two or three guys per game? Feller, Johnson, etc did not piech from a strtech unless they absolutely had to! Get back where you were David, !

Kimbrel's contract was 2 years for 24 million plus an option year at 13 million.

 

Chapman got 86 million.

I wouldn't have made the Kimbrel deal. I admit it.

 

Not because I don't like Kimbrel as a pitcher, but because I would have preferred the team focus on building the rotation from something. I would have preferred to look for a closer (rarely the top need of a last place team) in free agency, avoided Price and his 7 year deal, and focused on finding a starter via trade.

 

Not sure what starters would be available for Margot, Guerra, Allen and Asuaje. But both Margot (BA 56, BP 14) and Guerra (BA 52, BP 56) were concensus top 100 prospects at the time, and were excellent bargaining chips. Allen and Asuaje were both decent additions, as well...

Price now is diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I haven't as yet heard if he will need surgery to correct the problem. If he does, we will be without one of our hoped for starters again this year. The Price contract is looking pretty awful at this point in time.

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, for the money your paying the diva u could have gone after Cueto and the Shark back in 16.

 

Cueto far better pitcher and the Shark although not an elite arm but has been durable and Both RHP.

 

Factor that in with Sale Pomeranz and Eddy R, far better starting 5 than what u have now!
