Porcello, righty, vs. Skaggs, lefty.

Both pitchers are off to very good starts in 2018. Both have ERA's below 2, 17 K's, etc.

Could this be the pitcher's duel that was predicted for last night?

In any case, it's still the two best W-L records in the AL and the two best run differentials. But I still don't think I can stay up that late.

14-2 !!!!!!!!

Tonight should be the day you plan to have Beni (or JBJ) sit, since we are facing a lefty.

I might try this...

1) Betts RF

2) Nunez 2B

3) HRam DH

4) JMart LF

5) Devers 3B

6) Moreland 1B

7) JBJ CF

8) Vaz C

9) Lin SS

I can't stay up past 10 anymore. I couldn't believe my eyes when I woke up this morning and said, "Hey Siri, what was the Red Sox score" and saw the 10-1. Hoping for the same tomorrow morning.

Of those 4 lefty bats--Moreland, Devers, JBJ, and Lin--only JBJ does almost as well against lefties as righties. Moreland and Beni both have big drop offs. Lin is is hitless vs. lefties, but only 2 AB's. This year Nunez OPS vs. lefties is .347 (8 AB's), which is about the same as Beni's.

So, me, I probably stay with the standard--Betts, Beni, HanRAm, JD, Devers, Nunez, JBJ, Vaz, and Holt (1/3 vs. lefties), but Lin would be fine too.

Pretty sure Cora said that since Porcello is a ground ball pitcher, Lin would be starting tonight at ss due to his better range. That's the theory anyway.

Yes, I should not have put Moreland in this line-up. Maybe play Nunez in LF, Holt at 2B and Lin at SS.

He just might do that. You said Nunez is good in LF and we have not seen him there yet this year, have we?

I like that idea. Both parts of it because Porcello is a ground ball pitcher only when he is good, which has been the case this year.

I hung on for another hour. When the Sox got that 8 run lead I decided to leave it in their hands and get sleep. (Honestly, I knew I was going to either sleep in the chair or in the bed and I chose the bed. :))

Does that concern anyone but me?

Nunez didn't play any outfield for us last year either. And after his injury they'll probably avoid putting him out there if possible.

Surprise lineup!

Betts RF

Ramirez DH

Martinez LF

Moreland 1B

Nunez 2B

Devers 3B

Leon C

Bradley CF

Lin SS

Moreland is not very good vs LHPs. Then, he not only plays, but he's batting 4th. JF hit Moreland 4th and 5th a lot as well. I don't get it.

I love Cora, but I'm sctratching my head.

(Now, watch Moreland pull a Holt on me tonight.)

But Moreland has begun to hit after a slow start, so I can see him back in the lineup soon, maybe tonight. I love his bat when he's on.

Beni in the last 7 games. Besides Mookie, is there anybody hotter than Beni right now?

AB. R H. HR. RBI. BB. SO SB. Avg. OBP. SLG.

29 4 10 0. 9 3 4 1 .345 .394 .621

I get the syber-metrics of L on L ...

But still, I NEVER WANT TO SIT a guy with 9 RBI's in the last 7 games, with an OPS of 1.015

p.s. sorry! The format didn't convert. You get the point.

Having said this, it's impossible to argue with what Cora is doing!!! He's pulling all the right strings!

The only thing bothering me about JD so far is that he is just meat to anything that breaks. Here he gets up in the count 3-1 and swings at a 3-1 curve ball that was not even a strike that he simply had no chance to hit. That sets him up at 3-2 where he swings at another curve that his bat never got close to hitting.

He should be standing at 1st base with a walk right now and instead he is walking back to the dugout.

Interesting HanRam is batting 2nd. Worked out in the first inning though.
