Price (L) vs. Ohtani ®

Early start to the game thread because these two pitchers and especially teams deserve some pregame discussion.

Both teams are beyond hot: Sox 13-2; Angels 13-3. We've played one good team, the Yankees. Ditto the Angels, the Guardians. FWIW, preseason I believe the Yankees were the pick in the AL East and the Astros in the AL West, so both teams are presumably over-achieving.

Both starters very good this year, but Price was rotten last timeout, April 11. Ohtani, a rookie, was perfect through 6 innings (and went 7), April 8. Ohtani does not DH for himself, at least, not so far.

Should be a good match up, I hope Sox rock him obviously, but I am excited to see Ohtani pitch.

I wanted him on this team. Just 22 year old, he's a #1 starter

Even as a college student now, these games are still too late for me. I wish I could get a close up look at Ohtani though. Win. Dance. Repeat. x5

Great game, but I can't watch a 10 PM eastern game.

Move here! (I realize LA doesn't have the wonderful spring weather you have in NE, but it might be worth the sacrifice).

This game is where David Price either shows up or folds like he always seems to when we need him .

Would you really characterize this game as must win?

It's not a must win but it does feel like kind of a big game for Price. If he doesn't bounce back from the last one the haters will be out in full force.

Smh. Ya’ know I’m starting to question your priorities.

So, it's a big game for the haters.

I'm not expecting a great game from Price, and if he struggles, it won't change my expectations. What I'll be looking for is how he feels during and after the game, especially 1-3 days afterwards.

Interesting. Price was terrific in his first two starts. We need that Price, but not necessarily tonight because it's freaking April. As you say, we need some encouraging news about his physical status and tonight and the next 3 days will give us a clue.

In defense of the "haters," I think Price is the highest paid Sox pitcher ever which is bound to bring expectations. On the other hand, we have a Yankee fan in our office and I asked him about Ellsbury last fall, and he is basically fine with him as long as he contributes and he doesn't expect him to be the 2011 Ellsbury or even the 2013 Ellsbury. So that's about where I am with Price. He's got undeniable talent which this team could definitely benefit from. His contract is a given.

It's 2018 and this team is off to a fantastic start with a pretty darn good rotation, a solid closer, and a lineup that after 15 games is tied for 2d most runs scored, 89, in MLB. Time to root for all the good guys.

Huge game tonight. Battle between the 2 best teams. Curious to see how Price does tonight as he had 2 fantastic starts to the season followed by an injured stinker. Lets keep the streak going boys!

Mookie IS playing tonight, right?

Who knows? We probably won't until the lineup card is revealed. But it sure would be nice to see him back in RF and leading off in a lineup that is starting to look pretty decent.

I think OldTimer said he expects this lineup tonight: Betts, Beni, HanRam, JD, Devers, Nunez, JBJ, Vazquez, and Lin.

Whatever the result, I’d like to see Mookie vs Ohtani

Yes me too.

I would like to see an Ohtani fastball leak inside to Mookie.

Teach the newbie some respect.

@FreePlaysPicks

Boston 2B Mookie Betts (knee) & LF Hanley Ramirez (hand) are questionable tonight versus the Angels.

IDK. It was the only source I could find that mentioned his availability. May not be a great source tho!
