Wow! Our pitching had been amazing!

If we could just avoid the 8th inning, we would be throwing tons of shut outs.

Poyner showed me a ton today. He generates more swings and misses on 88 mph fastballs than any other pitcher we have.

Well I would say that his pitching brother Brian Johnson does a pretty good job of it. Not sure why everybody is super surprised by Poyner - 2017 Sea Dogs pitcher of the year. He is pretty good. Guess Cora knows something!

Your offense needs to break out. Your starters cannot be given no room for error forever. That can work vs the Floridian teams. Doing that vs NYY, BAL and TOR isn't gonna work

If you want to make the playoffs, Stanton is going to have to hit better than .185 with a 40% k rate. Gary Sanchez will have to OPS higher than .342 as well.

Also, I hate all of these whack off days early in the season.

I guess with the extra inning game last night it helps us out a little, but still.

It's due to the additional "weather issues."

I'd push back the season to April 15th for any venue north of the Mason Dixon.

Yup. As I type it is snowing horizontally 35 miles south-west of Fenway. I don't know what the weather is like at Fenway.

I can't imagine that playing today would be much fun for anyone.

Keep that snow down there!

I was at a home opener at McCoy once where it was in the 20's. That's some ********.

Well even with the foul weather it's just good to have baseball back on a "daily basis".

Loving that daily baseball today!

I intentionally put those two words in quotations.

Yes, I know what quotations are used for and was just seconding your joke.

The good news is that I can watch the Yankees game tonight. At least until/unless the Yankees start winning.

I really hate when the Sox and the Yankees both have off days.

Amazing. I do the same thing, made easier when the other team is the Orioles. Machado just homered off Sabathia in the 3d to put the Orioles up 2-1. Last night was also enjoyable, especially when they got to Tanaka. Both those guys, if memory serves, gave our hitters problems last season.

Plus I'm still enjoying yesterday's terrific comeback win.

It's in the same place as the Yankees' Greatest Bullpen of All Time - off to a slower start than expected. Such is baseball.

Is it weird that we play to the opposing teams pace ??? Seems like the Redsox have a habit of mirroring teams or playing down to there talent ? I hope it's that .

Ended up being a very good game. I dozed off somewhere around the 11th or 12th inning, but woke back up to bases loaded and no outs in the top of the 14th.

I'm older than you and only made it to the 10th. I really don't like Showalter, but like the Yankees even less.

Porcello today for the Sox--finally-- if they can get the game in. I seriously doubt there is any precedent for the Sox having open dates scheduled on a Wed and a Fri.

With a nod to mvp78, the above means that a team's run differential is more important than any other stat--team OPS, team ERA, team WHIP, you name it. Case in point: we are 6-1 right now, but have the 9th best run differential (+8) in MLB. If run differential is predictive, we cannot sustain 6-1 or anything near it with our weak run differential.

Discuss.

As far as JDM is concerned, I suspect that the late start to spring training might have thrown him off a bit.

He is making some hard contact but just not yet getting the warm weather and good hitters ball parks. I think he will be fine.

The premise is correct but we're still dealing with what moon would call a teeny-tiny sample size. End of thread.

Sadly true. We are a long, long way from October and the proof of the pudding.

Oh, there's nothing sad about it at all. Enjoy the fact that we have 6 or 7 months of baseball before us.
