Everyone has their right to protest. Just as I have my right not to support them. It would be much better if they protested on their own time. I wouldn't have been able to walk in to work and stage a protest, I would have been fired.

And I do find it disrespectful when the founder of the protest wears socks depicting police officers as pigs.....

But I'm not going to change your mind and you certainly aren't going to change mine, so let's get back to baseball.

Nice, how you get the last word in and then attempt to end the discussion.

Typical.

Well, this was my second attempt to end it and we both know Youk will end it anyway. I just figured it was better than to continue down the rabbit hole and piss him off.

Wow what a rally...JBJ with the slam! After back to back pinch hitters are hit by pitches! You gotta love this game.

Beautiful inning! Moreland getting it done again. The sheer sexual masculinity of the man attracting the ball.

I haven't looked, but surely even the math thread is feeling a bit chipper right now!

It'll be good reading in the morning LOL.

Yeah, he doesn't know what he's missing. :D

Damn right.

I'm absolutely loving Pearce's metamorphosis into a GG 1st baseman. Like a dancing Inspector Gadget over there.

Pearce has proven to be a fantastic acquisition. As has Eovaldi - that might actually be an understatement - he's come up huge. He must be on Cloud 9 right now.

Maybe DD should not sign any free agents, and just wait for mid season deals.

He does a great job in that area.

(OK, OK, JD was a great signing.)

Eovaldi was great although not backed up by good 3rd base defense. Brasier also looked great tonight. Barnes with a 6 run lead walked the first batter. Why do that? Kelly did his job and E-Rod got more valuable PO experience and threw mainly strikes. Our maligned Bullpen is getting it done. On to game 4 with a Porcello who has been pitching very well. He goes in with a BP that is rested and ready. Barnes, Kelly and even Brasier can be used again as well as Price if need be.

I wouldn't get to down on Barnes. Sometimes, you just miss your spots. I was impressed how quickly he regained. He was throwing nasty stuff after the BB.

Yeah Eovaldi is some pick up. I really like the kid. If we can re-sign him at a cheapish rate and get consistency in his work he would be a steal.

He's not going to be cheap but I think we just have to do it. Lock him up! Lock him up!

I'm highly skeptical.

It's like signing the Super Bowl MVP and then watching him play like he did over the whole of his career....or worse.

Eovaldi has a rebuilt arm. he is a young man who could have a very good career (maybe not great) going forward. Concerns about his being susceptible to injury are over rated. I like him.

You have to like him. He pitched well for us in the regular season too, aside from a couple of rough outings.

Concerns about him being inconsistent are well founded.

I'd love to have him back, but he will likely be too costly.

I know it's not the same thing, but I remember people saying they wanted Fister back, too.

The best part about Eovaldi last night was that he started out throwing heat, heat, and more hit. Five straight pitches at 100 mph or more. Then he started throwing more and more breaking stuff which was just as good if not better than the high heat. And that's what got him thru 6 innings and 2 runs.

About the walks. I think we have to tolerate a certain amount of them because the alternative this season has been lots of dingers by the other team. The Sox won the ALDS with two straight wins in Yankee Stadium in part because they kept the ball in the park in both games. And how did Workman give up that 3 run dinger vs the Astros? By throwing a middle of the zone fast ball on his first pitch to that batter. And you better believe the Astros can hit. Their postseason team OPS is .859.

Agree with cp176 that the announcers and the known universe are all rooting for the Astros. I think their ideal WS was going to be the Dodgers and Yankees, and the Sox spoiled that dream.

Walking Bregman may be the right strategy. Others, not so much.

I'm not sure who wanted Fister back or why. The guy pitched a few good games last year but in general he was an end-of-the-line junkballer and his overall numbers were not very good.

He ended up starting in the playoffs, even with worse numbers than others.

Nobody wanted him back as our 3rd or 4th starter, but some wanted him as our 5/6.

ohhhhh snap. an alternate game thread????

Maybe just a different place to talk about the game. The bitching on the actual game threads has been ridiculous this year. Enough to make a lot of people avoid them.
