Moncada is still only 22. I wouldn't say that trade is absolute win yet. I love Sale, liked trade at the time, and still love it, but Moncada still has star potential.

Absolutely. Did Sox fans really give up on Moncada after 200 ABs at age 22? Really?

And the focus seems to be on his 30% K rate (roughly the same as Aaron Judge - is he a bust too?), but no one ever mentions Yoan also walks 13% of the time.

There is a lot to like about Moncada going forward....

This is what a good trade looks like. Both teams should benefit. I don't care that Moncada and Kopech become stars. If Sale pitches like he did for three years, then it's a good trade for us. We got what we wanted.

Absolutely - I hope this kid has a great career. I have always been a huge supporter of his. The but is that we have Chris Sale. I'm ok with that trade for sure. Moncada- Kopech - We got one of the very best pitchers in the game.

When I saw Moncada play in Portland, I was amazed at how much more physical he looked than any of the supposedly talented prospects that were yarded out to play that day. He made Benintendi look small. He looked like the only player out there who would be able to play ml baseball. Good luck to him - hated to see him go until I actually saw what he helped us acquire.

The trade has certainly benefited Boston. I just don't get why people disparage Moncada like he's their ex-girlfriend...

The idea about having a farm is that there comes a time when you harvest the crop , take it to market and see what you can get for it. When you get top of the line talent like Sale and Kimbrel , you did well. Maybe the farm is then depleted , but there is a time to sow and a time to reap.

No answer for you there. I think that he still has 30-30 written all over him. 30 steals still means a lot to me - old school. Hope someday we get him back somehow.

I am waiting for this rain delay to end so I can see my team play.

Price was going to start but he was left back at Jet Blue to get his work in because of the forecast.

Beeks will start.

Rough start for Jalen Beeks against against a lineup of the Twins' top hitters.

9 runs and 1 out....

I'm not one to wory about spring training stats. But this is a guy who shlould be trying to impress.

Well, thankfully we can just look into one of those minor league free agent vets Dombrowski has been signing. You know. Just in case...

Right - You mean Johnson, Valesquez, and Elias right? I'm with you on this one.

Yeah. That should do it. The Sox have NEVER used more than two minor league call up pitchers in a season before.

(You are aware Elias is moving to the bullpen, right?)

Oh my God notin, I am aware of everything. You truly think that you know more about this gig than Dombrowski does don't you. You are just so full of ******** that I might have to stop communicating with you. That would just be too bad. Just so you know, I'm pretty much full of ******** too.

Best fans ever created "RedSox Fans "....celebrating Mookie bets squashing a slump in spring Training .....Love this Team Love our passion ...there is no equal .

If I'm not mistaken, it was an infield hit, so I'm not sure if that even counts. ;)

The only things that are significant about ST are injuries and the fight for the last few spots on a roster.

Although the sloppy defense and 'stupid' baserunning from last year have continued into spring training.

We may need to fire Cora.

OMG! Desperate Dave blew up our farm system for this bum.

It's not even a quality start.

With Dave, I don't really see much at this time that shows that any of his deals were terrible. He did give a lot of players to acquire real talent. On our team, most of those guys were destined to be role players for us or they were blocked for sure. I understand totally that some here did not necessarily like these deals because it goes against a very solid philosophy that they believe in. As for me, I have enjoyed watching the stars he has acquired compete.

As I've said before, none of the deals taken individually are terrible, though Dombrowski did overpay for Sale and especially Kimbrel. What's terrible is the sheer magnitude of prospects traded away in such a short period of time.

But then you create a cliff.

you have said that before. I personally am quite pleased that we have those guys but I don't think that DD overpaid for them at all. He is better than that. The old horse trader won't get snookered by anybody. lol I think that he paid just what it took to sign them.

All that's been reported is that prayers are still needed for Lydia.

This is not to blame Kimbrel in any way, because obviously his daughter comes first, but the Sox may be in need of another closer. Kimbrel is still in Boston. He's throwing, but even if he is physically ready, will he be mentally and emotionally up to the task?

I know if my child was critically ill, I would not be able to perform my job at my best level.

GMs overpay for players all the time.

Dombrowski bid against himself for Price.

Dombrowski is a wise man and a better GM than any of us. But you do give him too much credit. I'm sorry, but it just isn't that hard to acquire players by overpaying for them, especially when you're paying with prospects that were already at your disposal.

One more thing to note, for those of us who care. Vazquez caught Sale in this start, not Leon.

You all can read into that what you'd like. :)

Yeah none of us really knew much about it when it was happening but JD Drew went through something similar with a critically ill child. It affected him in no small way from what I recall.

Did Koji's flight for Japan already depart? If not, send a limo to the airport to snag him!
