Cameron's bargain picks are not "dumpster dives" or minor league signings. Some get big contracts.

Morton was not a dumpster dive, but he was a bargain signing, whether or not Cameron or anyone else picked him to be a bargain.

$14M/2 looks like a steal.

Carrying over arguments from another thread is poor form. I am living rent free in your head. LOL! I am really under your skin.

If that thought makes you feel good, then good for you.

Clowns will be clowns.

Name calling now. Very mature.

Clowns are fun and offer great entertainment. It was a very accurate description.

Hope I'm not getting under your skin.

Not at all. Do you have a few thousand irrelevant statistical split stats to back that up?

Get me some stats, not generalizations. You are getting lazy in addition to being stupid and doltish and worst of all ... interminably boring. That is the biggest sin for a sports message board -- being boring and you are the King of Boring. And you more than anyone else have brought boredom to TalkSox.

Add one more brilliant and enlightening post to your totals.

Back to baseball, rumor has it, the Dodgers might be looking to dump AGon and pay almost all of his contract.

I'm not sure we can afford a roster spot for even a free AGon, but it is an interesting idea to ponder.

Maybe they'd take HRam and Castillo for him.

LOL.

Chronic back and shoulder problems have sapped his power. Do your homework.

I think people sometimes confuse fantasy baseball with the reality of baseball as a sport/business. A " bang for your buck " may sound good , but when payrolls vary greatly , it is not enough. You want to build a championship caliber team. You don't shop in the bargain aisle.

Really? So you don't think the Sox got a baegain in Fister last year?

Teams shop in the bargain aisle for multiple reasons. One is they lack the budget. But even high payroll teams look for depth and cheap players to offset the costs of the David Price's of the world.

I think fans think free agency revolves solely around big name players. And he reality is, that is exactly where the bargains are not. Who was a better deal for the Sox last year? Bargain aisle Doug Fister? Or payroll-mega hog Pablo Sandoval?

This might be the most unpleasant evening in the history of this forum.

It takes only two to ruin a party.

Really - I just read through the posts and found them kind of humorous. There really are some of us who post here who honestly don't see it as our life's work. It is entertainment. Says here you have been a member since 2016. Baby oh baby - some of the postal feuds prior to that date were epic.

This from MLBTR...

Nine-year big league veteran Dave Bush has been working as a Red Sox pitching development analyst for the last year, as the Boston Herald’s Jason Mastrodonato details in this look at Bush’s duties within the organization. Bush sees his role as helping bridge the gap between the analytics department and young pitchers who may be being exposed to such information for the first time. “Baseball is not known for accepting change in a hasty manner. But I also think there’s also a benefit for someone like me, who has been a player,” Bush said. “I’m comfortable having that conversation. And it’s my responsibility to present information to them because I think it’s going to make them better.” Bush’s duties are part of president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski’s plan to overhaul how the Sox select and develop young pitchers, as the club has been notably short on homegrown arms over the last decade.

Now how can you say that when you joined in 2016? :)

Good point. I was under the mistaken impression that this forum started up only after the Boston.com forum closed down.

Fall League Updates:

Roenis Elias had a strong start on Friday, tossing six shutout innings and allowing only two hits while walking three and striking out three. He has not allowed a run over 10 innings with the Aguilas.

Maybe he has established some trade value such that he can be included in a package. Otherwise, he is a depth option, and not a very good one.

The talk was he was going to be in the pen next season.

More of a DFA option than a depth option at this point.

He's only pitched out of the pen 5 times in his entire professional career. If he's in the pen, it'll be in AAA.

soxprospects.com had a podcast that stated the Sox were planning on using Elias out of the pen.

You could convince me to keep Owens instead of Elias.

Not me. I'd have DFA'd Owens already and protected someone else on rule 5.
