Maybe. I also think people are making way tyoo big of a deal out of this.

It's also possible he assumed the question was about Price and possibly Thornburg and Smith. Basically thinking TJ surgeries.

The surgery thing was more amusing to me than anything else...not sure why some people are still so hung up about it. All of the surgeries were known about almost immediately in the following days, so it's not like he was trying to conceal something. Wasn't this right around the time Farrell was fired? Maybe he just didn't give a f*** about Hanley's shoulder that day... He could/should have chosen different wording perhaps, but you know it's a slow winter when we're still talking about this 2 months later.

I'm not sure anyone is "hung up on it," but there's not much else to discuss, so it came up again amid all the DD debate.

It was that troublemaker Kimmi.

At the end of the day, this story was probably worth mentioning but the consternation being expressed in the aftermath is so over the top and completely expected. There’s no issue here on the side of Cora or the side of the Red Sox. It would be great if this had never happened, but it did and everyone dealt with it then moved on with their lives. It would be cool if the media did the same thing, but we all know this will be brought up any time there’s a shred of discontent in the Boston clubhouse in 2018. Alex, if you didn’t know what you were getting yourself into before, you certainly do now.

[h=2]Mariners To Acquire Dee Gordon[/h]By Jeff Todd | December 7, 2017 at 3:57pm CDT

The Mariners have struck a deal with the Marlins to acquire second baseman Dee Gordon, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (Twitter link). The return is not known at this point.

It’s a rather stunning move that was not at all anticipated for a Seattle organization that has highly-paid star Robinson Cano at Gordon’s accustomed position of second base. But the M’s have a plan, it seems: Gordon will move to center field, according to Jim Bowden of MLB Network Radio (Twitter link).

The Marlins have been working hard to pare salary this winter, and that meant finding a taker for the 29-year-old Gordon’s contract. He’s promised another $38MM through the 2020 season, including a buyout on a $14MM option for 2021.

Gordon certainly has the speed for the outfield, though it remains to be seen how his glove will translate after a ten professional seasons spent exclusively in the middle infield. Range surely won’t be a problem, as Gordon has led the National League in stolen bases in three of the past four seasons.

Wheels, of course, are also Gordon’s calling card on offense, where he’s among the game’s most valuable baserunners. So long as he can maintain something like his 2017 slash line — .308/.341/.375 — Gordon ought to be a solid enough performer with the bat to be a net positive in terms of creating runs. That’s shy of the .333/.359/.418 output Gordon posted in his breakout 2015 season, but approximately league-average hitting with a bit more upside is plenty given Gordon’s other attributes.

The players / prospects received in return not yet known.

"A league average hitter".

He hit .308.

What the hell league is that?

He had an OPS+ of 94 and has a career OPS+ of 93.

That makes him a below average hitter...

The Mariners basically took Gordon for free. The prospect package is middling to say the least

I thought you said Gordon should fetch them quite a return..

Don’t sign Hosmer!

Good thing you posted that. I was just about to sign Eric Hosmer.

You posted that just in time...

Has this insider divulged anything yet?

Otherwise he/she may not be much of an insider...

So you are saying that he's a liar. This is by far the most disappointing post coming from you. Because you don't like the way he traded away your precious farm boys, you don't trust the guy that runs baseball operations for your beloved Sox? Desperate Dave from Larry, Lying Dave from Kimmi. Good to know.

Believe it or not, this pretty much goes for all GMs when it comes to this type of thing, even my beloved Theo. Just because he hasn't mentioned that the Sox would consider moving Devers to 1B if they signed a 3B doesn't mean that it hasn't been considered or that it won't happen.

It's patently obvious that Kimmi's point is that Dombroski isn't in the habit of revealing every single detail or move to fans. He clearly plays things close to his chest on times and is a fan of misdirection when it suits.

Still, at least you managed to take a cheap jibe at her for stating the obvious, eh?

Thank you.

I find it very interesting that out of the five or six guys at the bottom of the 40 man roster, desperate dave waived Owens.

But regardless, we now have a spot open and it looks like we are signing or trading for someone soon.

Martinez, abreu, hosmer????

My personal favorite is Adams.

I'm going to guess Martinez.

no divulging yet - we get to guess I think . Oh Slasher whee are you when we need you?

Why is this an issue? They print money at Fenway. Big market teams are always going to spend more money. Its not your money, its not my money.....if it puts a better product on the field, who cares?

You should learn how to properly reply to someone elses post, its confusing. Why do you BOLD all of your posts? Are you yelling?

Most of us really don't care if Henry wants to spend all of his money signing expensive free agent after expensive free. The problem is, we know that he's not going to do that. He does have a budget, contrary to what some believe.

Since he is not going to spend without limit, a strong farm is important, and how he spends his money is also important. If overpaying with a long contract for someone like Martinez is going to prohibit us from making future moves that are needed, then I care.

This exchange is classic. Every team has its max. The penalties for going over the thresholds are no longer menial. The penalties for going over the upper threshold are crippling. The sox aren’t going over $239 mil

Bingo.

I don't think I share your enthusiasm, as far as expecting this lineup to turn things around next season.

If the Sox have a chance to sign a player like Martinez, they should go for it.

I do agree that the Sox could use more pitching help.

I'm pretty sure that most people don't share my enthusiasm about this line up. I'm good with that.
