Signing Duda for $8 mil puts Hanley in a platoon situation and keeps his option from vesting, hence saving $22 mil in 2019. $22-$8 is $14

Ahhhhhh! Thanks.

Benintendi isn't getting dealt. That kid will be a really solid #2 hitter for a long time. I can see that kid hitting over .300 with 20+HR on a yearly basis. I like his game. Beni, Betts, and Devers are untouchable IMO

Couldn't agree more.

Just sign JD Martinez to play 1b/DH. Offseason would be easy peasy.

And add a starting pitcher.

Leave the rest of the position players alone.

A voice of reason.

I'm not sure why some people are in such a hurry to trade Beni.

Otani will go to the Team he prefers since there is the pool cap on what he can make.

More than likely LA or NYY

JD but only if Ramirez is moved

XB gets another chance, this time with a different hitting coach

This is what I have been pushing.

Large sample size warning.

2014-2017 vs RHPs only:

1413 PAs for Duda

.861 OPS (better than Hosmer .845, Santana .820, Morrison .788 & Moreland .772)

79 HRs (Santana 78, Freeman 77, Miggy 74, Votto 73, Morrison 71, 58 HRam, Morelaand 58)

Mind you, this is just against RHPs.

He'll be cheap. He'll keep HRam from reaching 497 PAs, and he'll be an excellent compliment to JD.

Teams have been making trades to increase their pools, the Sox being one.

I did not see much here about Pedroia. I hope I'm wrong but I have the feeling that litle body has taken aboout twice as much as it designed for. I'll go as far to say he may not be able to continue for another year---mabe less than one more year.

You could be right, but I think even a 25 year old would have missed time after the hit he took at 2B.

It's not like he got hurt running to his 2B position.

Trading JBJ would be brutal. Unfortunately he's one of our few really attractive trading chips.

I could see JBJ'S dealt. His position is easily filled with either corner guy and a slugging left fielder isn't hard to find.

And Dombrowski doesn't always emphasize defense

It seems like people are wishing him into retirement now. We've all seen players with worse injuries hang on a lot longer....

No one wants to think about finding another second baseman. Especially if they believe that Nunez will be healthy.

That is dumb as well.

What does any of this matter if he can't play the field, swing a bat, or run the bases?

If his knee or any other parts of his body are that f***ed up counting on him for "90" games is just foolishness.

Go get someone who is a front line 2nd baseman or live with Lin, Merrero, Holt, or Hernandez.

It will be so fun to listen to people bitch all season about how we should have had a real 2nd baseman.

Beni's pretty scary in LF. You're okay putting him in CF or RF?

Yikes!

My point about the contact injury was that it is not really a sign his body is breaking down--not that there haven't been several other signs that he is.

I don't have a lot of faith in Pedey staying healthy. I think my suggestion we pay Nunez about $27M/3 shows my angst.

Ah. I see. Didn't he hurt a previously repaired knee when Machollo hit him?

And moving Betts there isn't a viable option since right field in Fenway requires someone with the skills to play CF.

I want to carry the same outfield into 2018 that was there in 2017. It's not at all unreasonable to think that all three will improve offensively and out defense is probably as good there as any team in baseball.

Ya, That's the one, and it's why I don't want that guy anywhere near the Boston Red Sox. Call me Mary Poppins-ish if you like but I see no place for a loose cannon cheap shot artist anywhere in baseball and I certainly don't want the Red Sox paying him.

I don't see how anyone would want that guy over Stanton all things considered.

You don't have to trade any assets to get JD. Whatever you give up to get Stanton would most likely come from MLB roster.

I agree. Plus, there have been other instances of him going in with what could generously be termed "questionable" slides. I know he did it with one of the Yankee middle infielders this season and I'm sure there have been others. I'm a little surprised no one has gone into third with spikes a little high on him (another plus of sliding feet first).

You would think as a former middle infielder he wouldn't do that kind of crap.

Marvelous talent, but don't want him.

And that is what I have proposed.

You don't have to like it or agree with it.

Nunez may not be the only infielder we could get to fill the super utility role. I would consider the injury and look over the alternatives before jumping to the Nunez conclusion.
