Pitching is good, but not great. Hitting is too easily shut down. I said lose the ALDS but still hold out hope that we have played all three likely opponents--Guardians, Astros, and Yankees--and fared OK this season. Yankees killed us before the ASG but not after. Thus I have no problem with anything saying we could get to the WS.

If I'm a team, I would not take the Sox Lightly. They have been grinding and battling since the All-Star Break. The Yankees have made us a tougher team. Been playing Play-off baseball for last 3 weeks, and might have to battle to last day.

Guardians and Astros, are going to get a battle. If we win Division. Yanks are playing good too.

I voted lose in the ALCS because I think the Sox can beat the Stros in the ALDS and then probably lose to Yanks/Guardians in ALCS. If they lose to the Yanks, it would really help spark the rivalry a bit.

I don't think we have the offense to win it all, but I think we have the arms to win a short series, so I think we get to the ALCS

I cannot respond to the poll.

I think we will win the ALDS & not advance to the WS, but I can't bring myself to vote that we're going to lose to the Yankees. Ughhhhhhhhh.

I believe we beat Houston in the first round and lose to Cleveland in the ALC........ I think we match up well against Houston and can shut down their powerhouse offense with our pitching.... Cleveland is just too strong in every aspect of the game. Hopefully we can at least give them a decent series though unlike last year.

The Red Sox will probably have their second-best postseason of the past nine years by winning at least one game but falling short of a World Series title.

For the sake of the rivalry, I would like to see a Sox-Yanks ALCS, because I haven't seen one in my lifetime. But, I don't think the Yankees can beat Cleveland in 5. If given 7 games, they might have more of a chance, but I just don't see it in 5. On the other side, getting past Houston is no easy task, but I feel pretty confident we can do it. Now, we did win the season series 4-3 with the Guardians, but that was right before they got really hot. In fact, the first game of the 22 game win streak was against us in the finale of that series in Cleveland. It depends on who shows up in our rotation. If we get the pitching to back up Sale, we can get past the Guardians. Porcello's been 2016 good at times, 2015 bad at times. Fister's two best outings have been against Cleveland, but I don't see him pitching in the playoffs. Pomeranz has been solid, but hasn't eaten up innings. E-Rod, I think, is the most unpredictable.

I think we have the pitching to get past any team we face in the AL. Our left-side defense is STILL suspect, as is our ability to drive in runs (even when we seem to be hitting ok). I think they can get past Houston. Exact revenge on Cleveland. But probably lose to the Dodgers in the WS.

I think the Sox win the WS if it's vs Washington.

I think we'd beat the Cubs too.

Part of me is rooting for a Guardians-Cubs rematch. That game 7 was by far the best game in the history of the sport, and IMO better than last year's Super Bowl.

Teams that come back, to win games, are very dangerous teams. They force you to play 9 innings. Your head has to be in the game till final out.

Really, really liking these Sox.

I don't know if this is a Sox fan thing or just a me thing. I expect the worst and hope the best. I think we might lose the first series.

But I get kudos because I always thought we would win the ALE.

So did most people, IIRC. What makes you special? Nothing

Well, you don't remember correctly. There were plenty on this board that thought this team was going to fold and they didn't have enough hitting or pitching or fire or something.

I didn't claim I was special. You on the other hand, are very special.

There were some people who said this was a .500 team as late as the All Star break. So, IMO, you ARE special. :)

I voted that we win the World Series, because we really have as good a chance as any other team. The playoffs are mostly a crapshoot.

That said, IMO Cleveland is the strongest team of all the post season bound teams. Plus they have Tito. Randomness and crapshoots aside, I think it's their World Series to lose.

Everyone says pitching wins in the post-season. The Sox do have pitching.

Cleveland does have better pitching, however...
