Would you trade Machado since he is hitting .238 with a .300 obpct?

The Mike Trout's of the League are once in a lifetime players.. The rest are going to be inconsistent.

No way the orioles would trace Machado to the Sox regardless of the stats. Better to postulate trades that have a higher likelihood of occuring.

I think that you are not keeping with the times. The Home Run is king today and the big HR teams are the teams putting up the runs.

Chris Carter would still have a job, and Mark Trumbo would be making $150 million if this were true.

Seems like it would be a good exercise to see if there is a stronger correlation between OBP and runs or SLG and runs. I really don't know, but in terms of ratings I think the HR is king.

Chicks dig the long ball.

I've been combing through the MLB offensive standings and it's pretty hard to find any neat correlations.

One number that stands out for me is OPS+ and ours is 96...pretty much the definition of mediocrity.

You could also see that the Red Sox, despite their recent struggles are still 10th in MLB in runs scored.

But they're 14th in runs per game with 4.71. MLB average is 4.66. Once again, the definition of mediocrity - basically smack dab in the middle.

You missed my point completely. I was replying to a post where Betts gets traded for Trout.

My point was, Machado is hitting .238 at 25 yrs old. You think the Orioles would trade him because of a slump. You live and die with young talent. Thats why patience is a virtue.

Trading Betts would be the single most retarded thing we could do. If we do that, I hope the whole entire front office is fired and I wouldn't even to be a fan anymore.

And the idea of trading him for Trout, Correa or whoever is idiotic. Trout isn't moving and why would Astros even consider trading Correa (even with his injury)? These are pipedreams and the fact Betts being traded is even being discussed is a joke. He's a top 10 player in the league whose 24, those don't grow on trees.

I think it has more-so to do with the Orioles struggles than Machado's slump, but there is rumors swirling that Orioles could move Machado. They aren't even close to competing with their pitching staff and they seem terrified he's leaving in free agency in two years. I don't think they'd trade him in division, and I don't think Sox are a realistic option but it wouldn't shock me if they moved him and Britton.

I agree. Maybe some people were frustrated over the last ten days by calling it awful. Even if we just add Devers to the lineup, the production we have gotten from 3B has been so bad that if he is just average it will slide the Red Sox to a top 10 offense. Still not great, but maybe good enough with Sale and Price pitching four games in a series.

I would have liked to see them get Martinez, considering the light return Arizona ultimately gave up.

Frazier is a healthy scratch from the White Sox lineup tonight...

Todd Frazier a healthy scratch from the lineup .? Boston appears close to getting him and David Robertson Money appears right as well.

No word on Frazier trade (yet) but he's in dugout doing round of hugs and handshakes.

Haha, be careful of all the fake Ken Rosenthal Twitter profiles reporting we traded Devers for Frazier.

Lol, I saw that.

Last summer one of them had me thinking we were getting Quintana for about 5 seconds.

there is a stronger correlation with OBP - but the two are strongly correlated with each other (since you need singles to generate a good OBP and that helps slugging too). And it makes sense on the fringes - a SLG of 1.000 could still be retired (a homerun and 3 outs). An OBP of 1.000 means nobody is getting retired.

More simply, conceptually, outs are baseball's clock ... and not getting out is the fundamental goal of an at-bat. There are other goals too, but that is the bedrock one.

Oh, please God, NOoooooo!

If Martinez was gotten for that cheap of a package, we better not be giving up anything more than mid level prospect for Frazier.

This was my thoughts as well.

From some jackass named Bruce Levine who said the Red Sox were closest 30 minutes. Looks like a troll Twitter profile.

Jon Heyman and Ken Rosenthal are reporting the Yanks are close to a deal for Frazier, Robertson and Kahnle...if true, it'll be interesting to see what that cost.

Step back from the ledge, Moon!

He's a Chicago reporter. Probably has better contacts inthat clubhouse.

He's earned a blue checkmark on Twitter. I've seen some many fake ones tweeting out fake trades. I don't know what to believe anymore.
