John Farrell , can't play Bradley at the moment in STL. With no Ramirez and the pitcher getting up, Just can't afford it. His confidence is at an all time low.

I thought Young filled in good, I don't know why Farrell tossed out Young so quick. JBJ and Davis need a film work meeting. His head is coming off the ball again JMO. I like the player but something is going on.

Pomeranz is throwing 90. The velocity is dropping big time. The Twitter feeds said he was at 92 last start , today 89/90 he's injured. It's a bad trade, they could've got out of the deal . They got scared. It will haunt DD as long as he's the GM here.

The thing really bad is there is no hitter beside Betts that are consistent. They have wasted a team which boast the top 5 ERA for 1.5 months now.

I'm not trying 2 be the skunk at the picnic, but this is when the manager needs to earn his pay. When you lose series against Brewers and Rays a change might be needed, whether it's his fault or not. I'm not blaming him ,but is he really DD's man, in the long run.... No. I don't know what DD is waiting for. His bad trades have put them in this spot. DD should do something or it's not gonna change. They need a spark right now.

Wow, that was a helluva play by Marrero

The bright spot of the series is Marrero's defensive play at 3B. Refreshing to see.

2 bad throws by Long on balls hit by Hanley. Unusual for Longo.

As MVP pointed out, the Rays defense has been worse than ours so far this year.

I wonder how much of that has to do with how painstakingly long the Rays pitchers take in between pitches.

This team seems to be going through the motions too much. Right now, we are not a team that can go deep into the playoffs. Long way to go, so hopefully we turn things around. I can't see a huge turnaround with the 3b situation and JBJ back in a funk. Bogey with no homers, who would of thought that. This weekend sucked.

That game really stunk for so many reasons.

This offense reminds me of the 2014 offense. The talent is there, IMO. They are too good not to be scoring runs. As in 2014, I keep waiting for the offensive surge to come. So far, I've been highly disappointed.

I hope we hit our groove pretty soon. Sometimes it's like watching paint dry. For sure losing Ortiz is really killing us..

That would be correct, even if Price comes back soon we'll need another starter. Looks like we'll be seeing more of Kendrick, Johnson, Owens and that trash!

How about that Valazquez lump. I think he has thrown like 17 consecutive shut-out innings or something like that.

I have always said that DD looks like a car sales manager.

In this photo we see the sales manager closing a lay down after the TO.

It all makes sense.

LOL

It is a funny photo.

I would think Farrell is on very thin ice. A good road trip is needed. Some very winnable games coming up. Better win them. A losing trip could spell finis for Farrell.

I think the caption should be: "Help me here, John. I don't speak stupid."

I disagree with almost all criticism of specific decisions by Farrell, but do believe that any manager can be fired if the front office thinks the team is under performing. Of course, with Lovullo now in in Arizona, finding a new manager on, say, June 1 might be tricky if you think managers make a difference. That the Sox are just 4 games out and still 1 game over .500 are in Farrell's favor for now.

As bad as the 9th was yesterday, I honestly don't think it cost the Sox the game because they had scored just 2 runs in 8 innings and were 2 for 11 with RISP, a familiar malady in 2017. Our first six hitters were 3 for 22.

If these guys could hit, this was a winnable game, and it would be dead wrong to blame the bullpen. Remember, Pomeranz only lasted 3 innings, giving up 2. Then the bullpen went 5, giving up 2 more. Give the Sox a 5-4 lead going into the 9th, and Kimbrel gets another save.

All I want is a manager who doesn't lose games. Farrell's inability to know when a pitcher needs to come out has cost the Sox a lot of games over the years. That to me is a remarkable achievement considering he was a pitching coach.

I don't even think Farrell calls a bad game, or writes up a lineup all that bad.

It's just when you have major talent, you need to know how to win. I think there are other managers that could do that better than Farrell.

I swear. If this team was a low paid, struggling franchise with the players we have now...... I think we would be in first...

Thank you, thank you, thank you. There is always at least one in the crowd who believes that good managers simply don't lose games. This was the relentless drumbeat throughout Francona's tenure in Boston--he lost games whereas good managers don't do that. True he won two WS with the Sox and with Cleveland was voted manager of the year one time and last year took them to the WS before losing to the Cubs. But the hard fact is that both the Sox and the Guardians have lost games with Francona at the helm. Fire the bum!

Farrell had nothing to do with the loss yesterday, that was just a horrific performance, especially in the 9th. Nothing he could do about that, every pitcher he tried was terrible.

Francona took unbelievable abuse throughout his last few years in Boston. Maybe not on this site but on the BDC site and on the nightmarish (LOL) Sawxheads site.

There were definitely people on here who posted about FranCOMA and his 7 run rule. They were a vocal minority and tended to skew towards the gray haired type that think since they've watched baseball for 60 years that they are better than any manager, coach or scout in the organization.

The 7 run rule was an unwritten Francona rule. I pointed it out and coined the phrase and it was confirmed time and again. I had only been watching baseball for 40 years when we got Francona. As far as second guessing Francona or any manager, it doesn't take a lot high voltage brain activity to realize that some of what they do is not very smart.
