No issue with Farrell being gone. Now, most of the managers are in the middle ... fairly low impact, fit dependent. Farrell was in that middle. Dombrowski's last hire was legitimately bad - so that bears watching.

Yup, that's the only thing that concerns me.

Per TalkSox:

Baseball is random.

Managers don't matter.

Batting order doesn't matter.

The offseason doesn't matter.

So, just throw whoever out there and the results would be just the same.

And fundamentals don't matter.

According to the arguments of the statheads, it doesn't matter whether our hitters come to home plate to hit in no in random order (only outmoded traditionalist thought demands a set lineup) and they can wear blindfolds like they are swinging at pinatas.

Some of this s*** is really annoying and doesn't lend itself to a useful baseball discussion. As I have said before, we should have vetted these BDC people when they came over en masse. TS long timers have been generally overly indulgent and tolerant of the new members, but we know that this place is a lot less fun since the influx. They have been here for a while. We know which ones are good and which ones make the place worse. Most have made the cut and add to the baseball discussion, and some are outstanding, but frankly some of them need to get cut. It really is time to bite the bullet. We are very tolerant with new and existing members, but this place has become less fun and we know why.

Farrell gone!
That really didn't take long. Usually teams wait until the World Series ends. LOL!! No big loss. The players were getting too comfortable seeming not to care. That wasn't my perception. I thought these guys gave it their best, but others perceived a lack of heart and effort. I guess they were right. Also, the comments after the game by the players were disappointing. To say that they took losing in stride would be an understatement.

Fans were peeing themselves with joy over Francona leaving too.

How'd that work out?

I was mad at the players in 2011 too. They disrespected the manager and the organization by the way they behaved, but the truth is that even the best managers have a shelf life. Tito's had expired, because he lost the clubhouse. Even he knew that it was time to go.

Just read through old TS posts about Tito being fired. Not too many people were jumping with joy here. Most said that it had to be done because of the clubhouse drama, but that they were very sad to see him go. Maybe it was different if you were wherever SBF and Pumpsie were posting.
He probably attributed BDC reaction to Talk Sox. He wasn't here when Tito got fired.

More straw man. Total misrepresentation of what has actually been posted.

The whole coaching staff will be gone. That's part in parcel with changing managers to me.
Maybe we can get a third base coach whose arms and voice work, but we will all miss Butter's spring training charts and no one got to the ballpark earlier, except the groundscrew... who have a bigger impact on the team.

i dont disagree. but when you have a roster with a bunch of kids you need a manager that has high impact. i think that is a very good reason to fire farrell.

It was his time to go. Expectations where high for this team. Back to back division winners and can't get past the divisional round.

Weren't you the one who invited us all over here?

lol. i think it was kingfish. who has mysteriously disappeared.....

but i was an early adopter. like you.

LOL! No, no poll necessary, and most of them (BDC) are good some are excellent. If it starts to get ugly around here, I put my trust in the judgment of Youk.

It tells me the decision was made before postseason and probably before the regular season ended. If they had made the World Series, he probably keeps his job but short of that, I think he was gone.

They probably also have somebody in mind and they likely have made backchannel inquiries. Nothing formal so as to avoid tampering issues, but a good senior manager has a list in his top drawer of replacements for his senior people at all times.

I have not misrepresented the fact that you come here to be argumentative and obnoxious with posters using arguments that can only be characterized as inane and stupid.

Maybe, but the early exit sealed his fate.

Could have been, the memory fades.

Unfortunately, there is still an element of us vs. them here; it's faded some, but one would think it would have died out after basically 2 seasons.

There has been a lack of assimilation by some, not many but by some. And yes, 2 years should have been enough time. Time is up.

Total strawman. Even replacing the entire grounds crew wouldn't have the impact on the grass the way a Jimmy Buffet show does!

I've been reading this board for several years. Way before I joined up. I find it extraordinary that it is you that accuses others of creating issues.

I have rarely found a more divisive, petty, immature and passive aggressive poster on any board, on any sport. Which is quite something given the age bracket you're in.

Without fail, every day, the board is treated to the delights of "LOL!!! But they said it doesn't matter/it's random!!" Your snide posts almost number the same as your normal posts.

I have no dog in this right as I don't see myself as from this or the other forum. Im just some body who likes to come and read other fans views/news.

But you and Fred made this place damn near un-readable a few years ago. And you're still the same now. So for you to now complain about others (a lot of which offer a tonne more than you do in debate and information) is quite something.

But you've commented before that you don't need to have your mind changed on things as you know you're right, so this post has little chance of achieving anything either.

The pride of Mansfield, John Tomase.

Thumbs way down for that turd.

Hmm. Never knew he was from Manfield. You must be beaming with pride.

Anyway, did you read his piece? Again, I never heard a f***ing peep about this clubhouse discord led by Price and the Gimp.

If any of this is true than Price is a major douche bag and Pedroia is no better.

And with this cast of miscreants, how will a new manager change the outcome next year?

What a bunch of f***ing pussies.

hahaha. i have been thinking this all morning. they usually smear the s*** out of the outgoing player/manager/whomever. maybe just maybe that was an LL thing?

That's what I suggested and that is what I believe.

Still, it is predictable that the press at the very least will s*** all over Farrell.

It's a mad scramble to find and to keep a media job in this market. Those f***s will t-bone anyone to score points. Especially someone who is not in a position to defend themselves.

Whoever comes in will need the support of the front office when the manager is inevitably challenged by the players. If the FO doesn't back the new manager, he will be neutered and useless.

OK, we got rid of Farrell, now what do we do about the clubhouse discord on Talksox? :D
Unlike the David Price situation, we have no contractual entanglements that would negatively impact our budget and payroll at TS.:D

LL is too busy trying to fleece RI out of millions and millions of dollars.

Oh yes. "Save baseball in Pawtucket".

That disingenuous piece of dog s*** threatens to move the team to Worceter and then when that bluff does not work he poses as the savior of Pawtucket baseball all the while demanding that a bankrupt city and the state fund or subsidize his business.

Not surprised since I have always seen him as a s*** stain.
