Just shut the f*** up and do your job.

Or go get surgery and shut the f*** up.

Nobody wants to hear your s***.

Here's a scenario to ponder. Price could go down now, get TJ surgery, be out all of next year, then opt out of his contract and never pitch again for the Sox.

I don't expect that to happen because of the money he'd be leaving on the table but if he's as unhappy in Boston as he appears to be it is an option for him.

If he hates it here that much, my guess is he opts out no matter what after next season.

That's a dilemma. If you were him, would you opt out of guaranteed loot coming back from TJ? More of a risk than continuing to collect a paycheck from an employer you hate.

...or, take the money and suggest/demand a trade.

In which case we'd probably remain on the hook for at least half of his salary and get little real value in return since every manage would know that Price is demanding to get out of Boston. Ugh.

That's probably a worst case scenario, but not outside the realm of probability.

The more I think about this, the worse it sounds. Double Ugh.

This is a serious question - Why is it that everyone seems to think that David Price hates Boston this much? I get the fact that he is no fan of the Boston media. All I have heard from him is how much he cares for his teammates. Some of them have been very outspoken in their support of him. Most of what I have read about him has always been about what a great teammate he is. I might be on an island here but I don't care about his feud with David Eckersley much at all although i do understand why some do.

I believe that Price believes that it's all the press' "fault" for reporting the news and in the process being critical of him. He doesn't like the press and the press doesn't like him, and the press is a big part of playing in Boston. When I see/listen to his post-game interviews I get the impression that he's saying what he's programmed to say and that he doesn't really mean it. He's simply saying, "Here's what I need to say. Now get out of my face."

He doesn't seem to like the intense spotlight in Boston, especially when it turns negative - which I don't blame him for. I mean, who would like that?? I'm beginning to think that he's now coming to grips with the fact that he thrives best in low-pressure situations where he can exceed expectations and Boston may not be the best place for him.

As to the Eck thing, I know there are exceptions to this (Yankees, A's of the past) but usually discord in the clubhouse will lead to poor performance on the field. As fans we expect solid performance on the field, something there hasn't been much of lately, we're looking for reasons/excuses for it. The dust-up on the plane takes care of that for us.

You sign Price with that contract to be a stopper. We had to Trade for Sale for that, lost Prospects because of it. So he has cost us more than money. He's trending down. Go by last year, he didn't perform like a #1. Edited by OH FOY!

This has been pretty obvious. I would say though that regardless of how well Price was able to throw, a trade enabling us to get Sale was a major coup no matter.

I'm no fan of the way he has gone about things but I've got no feelings of compassion for anybody in the news. I'm not 100% convinced that it really matters to him where he pitches. I don't see him as a small market guy necessarily. Maybe one of the reasons that we as fans have not been seeing the results we have expected is that we have over rated our guys. It happens a lot in New England.

I wish DD would swoop in a grab Sonny Gray away from the Yanks or whoever else in the mix. Let's face it Price is probably on the road to Tommy John surgery in the future. And I'd like another RHP that's not named Fister or Porcello in the playoffs and plus he'd push us from having to watch Wright's Knuckleball next year.

I truly doubt that David Price will ever opt out of his current contract. If he does, and if he does it after next season, then that is a coup for the Red Sox. It's impossible for me to see him revert to his former glory days. He was showing signs of regressing just before we signed him, and this is continuing apace.

In terms of his not wanting to be here, who can know about that. But it seems to be he exacted at least a 10% surcharge on us by holding out as a free agent to the bitter end, even though it was apparent that the Sox would outbid anyone, even, as it turned out, itself, in signing him. I can't see any circumstances in which he would kiss off this deal, no matter how "miserable" he may be here.

So, let's hope he recovers to the point of better-than-ave starter whether it be for us or a trade partner.

My point was not about contract if he stays or opts out. My point was on the here and now. Our rotation going for the Series this year is top heavy. Sale is a monster and Drew Pom has looked good. EROD and Price injuries have hurt their effectiveness. Porcello and Fister are a lose unless we mash and without a big bopper in the middle of this lineup I think we have a huge hole.

Reed helps the bullpen and if Smith and Kelly come back that will continue to be our strength.

Make a trade for Gray and Alonso and make a run for it this year. It will take a haul but with Devers up and keep Groome out of the deal put put the rest of the farm for sale and roll.

I thought we were dead meat tonight against Cleveland with Fister pitching. Instead, Fister had a good game and showed he still could be valuable. Cleveland is a tough lineup and to hold them scoreless for 7 2/3 innings and to do it emphatically was encouraging. Meanwhile our 217 million dollar man sits with a sore forearm. With Reed we now have a reliever we should have had with Thornberg. Pitching is still good.

I am shocked that fister spun as good a game as he did.

I doubt he ever comes close to repeating this performance ever again, but wow! What a jolt he gave us tonight. Finally we catch a break.

Now we need to build on it, one game at a time.

If he did it once, there's no reason he can't do it again.

It would certainly be a boost while Price is sitting on his butt.

Reports are that DD didn't even inquire about SP'ing.

How do you not even ask about Sonny Gray? The guy has 3 playoff cycles of team control at a low cost.

Criminal negligence.

Who goes to the pen if you pick up Gray?

What's the point if you know you don't have the prospect pieces or you know one of the pieces is Devers?

I guess it was also criminal negligence by Cashman not inquiring about Sale.

in landing Sonny Gray, Robertson, Grazier, Kahnle, and Garcia, the Yankees parted with 1 top 50 prospect. The Yankees sent a MASH unit to the A's. I think we could have interested them in Swihart who has no future with us.

Swihart is barely a prospect anymore.

If someone can put together a package of our prospects that would be roughly equivalent to the Yankees package, then we can have a discussion. The injuries to 2 of the Yankee guys obviously muddies the waters, but I'm sure someone objective like harmony could do this.
