Exactly, many Patsies fans were claiming bias in the second hearing because the 2nd circuit hearing took place in NY.

It's just silly IMO, and like you said, it's a job to these people.

Yes but that's not what I was referring too.

I saw what you did there though, touché.....touch....

I have always felt that sometimes the bad call happens in your favor, other times it goes against you. At the end of the year it seems to balance itself out.

Whining about a bad call here or there has never been my style. IMO it just makes you look like a, well, whiner.

I agree with this entire post.

No way in hell can an ump be correct all the time. It's a difficult task to call a game.

The rules say no bitching about called strikes and balls. I say start booting players more often.

Not really a non issue because I have seen fans complain that the replay guys have a NY bias because they happen in the NY offices.

Maybe as a New York fan you have seen this. But I have not heard anything like this at all.

My fault with the replay system is how long it takes.

And in that department, I still think umpires are doing the best job they possibly can. They have too high expectations placed on them.

This. We can't honestly expect these guys to be professional and not use personal grudges against players. The umps are perfect little angels and should never be questioned. Angel Hernandez has an immaculate strike zone!

A few of the former BDC posters would bring it up.

One in particular all the time.

What part of let's stop bringing BDC s*** over to talksox don't you guys get? We've been defending you from BDC posters singling you out as a troll for a while now, so stop calling out people on the way they posted on BDC, even indirectly. Let's work on keeping a baseball-focused environment at Talksox.

Umm, I didn't say they were posting here. I just meant a few over there did.

Why do you jump to conclusions and get all worked up over every damn post?

I suggest you put me on ignore.

Seems like this thread is going to have another fight. U? Is involved as usual.

Advise. Let mods handle this or simply ignore the guy, but please don't start again here.

And you continually accuse me of not keeping it related to the topic when in fact it is you who drags it off topic with the troll accusations.

Heed your own advice.

I'm not dragging fights with people from another forum into this one while at the same time being an insufferable prick to the people of this site too. Seriously, one last time, either stop being a planet-size douche or GTFO.

WTF are you talking about?

I'm not dragging any fight as those posters don't post here.

I was having a fine discussion with Hugh and Spudboy on the topic till you come in with the accusations and name calling.

If anyone is a prick or a douchebag it's the ******* you see when you look in the mirror. Go f*** yourself.

My apologies to the other posters but it gets tiresome with this guy.

Back to topic. Not sure if you guys watched the ATL vs SFG game but the home-plate ump was extending the zone way in and out. It was simply ridiculous.

Yup, if an ump can't maintain a consistent zone, he needs to be let go at year end.

Not sure what does it take to be a MLB ump, but in the today's NYM vs CHW game the narrators were saying that it is even tougher to become a MLB ump than MLB player.

Also, somewhere I heard, I think it was on FOX, that MLB may expand the strike zone or something like that.

I have no interest in that s***.

Here at Talksox we form our own opinions.

No one to my knowledge has even mentioned this idea.

I'm fine with a larger k zone as long as all of the umps follow it consistently.

I think that the new systems should be employed in concert with the current home plate ump to monitor his ability to get the calls right.

My twist would be that each home plate ump be fitted with one of those "Running Man" necklaces.

If the ump misses a call he would get a taser type jolt of electricity ( I would not blow his head off ).

I think that this system would yield far more consistent and correct calls.

Understood. I knew that Hugh understood what I was referring to.

Lol, I think it would also result in far less people applying for the job!

It might make them a bit jittery, I would think.

Why do I feel like part of the invading Barbarian horde? :(

If I recall my history, DD, and I'm a fairly interested student of world civilizations, if it weren't for the horde you mention, the Roman Empire might still have a solid footing as a super power.

For all the good that came out of Rome, it was tempered by barbarism. Odd, eh?

But then there are those who imply the barbarians were the source of the Dark Ages. I guess we can't have it all.

However, the umps in Red Sox games 48 and 49 were horrible.

I again reference them, but has anyone noticed that I was highlighting two games out of 50? That is LESS THAN FOUR TENTHS OF A PERCENT of all games played? An average of 1 game out of 25?

In other words, for those who are whining about my whining, (not meaning you David) it is a minuscule amount.
