Well, according to my system Clay Buchholz only got 8% of the possible points. He is a very very bad pitcher.

Yeah, no way am I trading for Clay if I'm a GM. Especially if Miley is available.

I mentioned a few weeks ago, I wouldn't have been too surprised to learn we picked up the option and then looked to trade. I would also in no way be surprised, if nobody would take him.

I think there's another team or two out there that would take him if they didn't have to give up much in return. As Sox fans we've been watching the guy so long that all we see now is his downside.

No one gets laid in a car that's in the shop either.

Maybe the machanic? Not in a Camry of course.

Fair point. I should have qualified my point with saying "Nobody would take him with what we were looking for in return"

I have received oral favors in both cars. Actually, the Mercedes was an E Class come to think of it.

Were either of them in the garage being worked on at the time, or were you the only one with his hood open?

Yup. Actually my system suggests me to bet against the Sox this time. I wouldn't take a money line considering how this team is hitting, but if you want to make a bet, take the 5 IP line which still pays you +140. Also, don't forget that Buch usually gets pounded early.

Somehow at bet365 the 4 1/2 line hasn't been displayed yet ---I will not hesitate if it shows up.

They didn't offered the line, now I figure out why. The house would have lost tons of money on this one.

If they had interest in Buchholz, he would be a Mariner.

Sorry, but I have to call BS on that, and it's very rare that I call BS on your posts. I have still read nothing that says that the Mariners preferred Miley. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mariners did prefer Miley for several reasons, but you trying to paint this as the Mariners laughing and hanging up the phone at the mention of Buchholz has no merit. Buchholz pitched very well last year and his contract is very reasonable.

Then why were they offered Buch and Miley, and they flat out chose Miley over Buchholz? And the links to overthemonster, Rosenthal et al are posted in this very thread. You don't want to believe it because you want to defend picking up Buchholz' option, even though I have agreed it was the right move

I have read the tweets. Nowhere did it say that the Mariners were offered Buchholz and Miley. Rosenthal was not sure which of the two were offered, the way I read it.

And even if the Mariners chose Miley over Buchholz, which I said I wouldn't be surprised by, that doesn't mean that they were so opposed to getting Clay that they would laugh and hang up the phone.

Maybe the Mariners preferred Clay but a deal could not be worked out for him. You don't know.

Multiple sources including MLBTR specifically stated that the Mariners were choosing between Miley and Buchholz. Deal framework was already in place, but they hadn't decided on a starter. You are interpreting it that way because you are trying to defend Buchholz. Obviously the "hung up the phone" part is hyperbole played for laughs, but the Mariners clearly chose Miley over Buchholz, for the reasons stated here ad nauseum.

I have not seen a source that said that the Mariners were choosing between Miley and Buchholz, but rather there was a deal centered around a Boston pitcher, believed to be Miley or Buchholz, not sure which one.

Perhaps you are interpreting it the way you are because of your opinion of Buchholz.

Not at all. Rosenthal clarified that the deal was pending between Miley and Buchholz. My opinion of Buchholz is not as biased as yours clearly. My point isn't that they should have been rid of Buchholz, but rather further fortified the rotation. The guys with pitchforks whenever someone mentions that he has sucked (and he has) are you and Slash. I mean, he could turn it around at any point, but he's been terrible. Just a little bit of objectivity in accepting criticism towards Red Sox players makes discussion a lot more enjoyable.

That certainly adds a lot to the discussion. Very welcome insight.

What are you arguing? That the Ms were interested in both, Miley and Buchh, but they decided to sign Miley?. Well, I don't remember hearing that the Ms were interested in Buchh but if you say so... Not sure what is the big deal.

Honestly, I don't find it interesting at all. What I find funny is how much energy you put on it, but be my guest, you can continue, but at least share a link man and case closed.

ACTIVATE E-ROD. Buchholz is the worst thing in Boston sports history. Watching him pitch is somehow more painful then not winning a world series for 86 years. He makes me want to witness the Steelers winning super bowls, Yankees winning world series and Lakers winning NBA finals, in order not to see him pitch ever again. GOD, WHATEVER IT TAKES MAKE BUTTHOLZ GO AWAY.

If Buchholz gets scheduled for another start, we should all show up to demonstrate at FP with flaming torches and a sacrificial goat.

I won't go as far as comparing him to the long life of the Curse. But it certainly does make one ill watching him kiss game after game good bye.
