Steve Garvey. Five times with 100 or more RBIs, four-time Gold Glove winner, 1 MVP award and for a seven-year stretch, he was the best first baseman in the game. In the end, he probably doesn't have the career numbers, but he was my favorite NL player back in the '70s. Edited by royf19

Garvey fits in nicely with the rest of the choices. He was a very good, very reliable player. Damn fine career.

Gil Hodges would be my 1B

Don Mattingly can get in after Will Clark, Olerud, Keith Hernandez, McGriff and Delgado get in.

Donnie Baseball is one of the most overrated players of my lifetime. If it wasn't for the NY media, no one would remember him. You don't get into the HOF by having 4 good years in a 13 year career.

Submit one choice for a player you deem great who somehow did not get into the Hall of Fame. Let's see if we can throw together a team that could give the Hall of famers a run for their money.

I will start things off with the great Rico Carty.

Rico was a great one, but just 7 seasons with over 500 PAs makes it tough to think of him as a HOF'er.
