Steven Wright is mortal after all.

 

Yeah, he was due to throw a clunker sooner or later. I guess the weather had something to do with that. Can't win 'em all, but it's still so disappointing to lose, especially after taking a 5-1 lead.

 

Oh well, we'll get back on track today.

 

And how do the Os keep winning?

I'm thinking do they jinx it by moving him in the order? Some guys get comfortable with their spot and don't like to move.

 

I can understand people wanting to move JBJ up in the line up, but it is better to keep players in spots where they feel comfortable. I really like JBJ in the 9 hole, with the top of the order following him.

Good question. The numbers say Machado, Davis and surprisingly, Trumbo, are carrying their offense. And their bullpen has been phenomenal - that might be the key right there.

Taking a quick glance at their results so far, it seems that some of it is that they've played against some weak teams. Their Pythagorean W-L is about on par with their actual record. They're 2-0 in extra innings and 5-2 in one run games, so maybe just a smidge of luck.

 

But for the most part, it looks like they're playing some pretty good ball. I hope they cool off soon.

Lance McCullers. Young guy making his first start of the year (shoulder problems). An effective pitcher last year. Probably wishing his season debut could be against the Braves instead of the painful reality.

 

Speaking of the Braves, in the last 4 games the Sox have scored just over half as many runs (51) as the Braves have scored all year so far (101).

 

 

McHugh. Pitching well as of late. 3.50 ish last 3 starts.
